Nancyquilts Posted August 31, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2007 We try for 11:15-11:30. Nancy
sueandkent Posted August 31, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2007 That port is a zoo, or it was when we sailed there in '04. Much more chaotic and slow compared to FLL. Customs has been very slow in clearing ships for disembarkation in LA in the past. If you can plan your arrival time I'd wait until after 1pm. Earlier and you may have a wait. Cruisin' Chick Posted September 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2007 We always try to get to San Pedro around 11am. The docs for our last cruise said to arrive after 1pm. We got there at 12:15 (because of traffic on the 405), were immediately directed toward an available check-in clerk, went through security, etc. Our check-ins were unpacked by 1:15pm and we were ready to truly start our cruise. mauiedin87 Posted September 2, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2007 We try for 11:30 if the ship has disembarked on time that morning. It just seems to get more crowded later on, and the lines are longer. We've found Princess' embarkation procedure to be the easiest and most organized we've ever experienced (after 12 cruises we've been through all kinds, one was 6 hours (!!) and that was a high-end cruiseline). We usually arrive the afternoon before embarkation and found that's really worth it, so you are among the first to get on the ship once they are ready to embark. carqueen1 Posted September 2, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2007 We always try for 1pm.....sometimes there is a big line of people getting there too early and then you have to wait with them...If you go a bit later sometimes you can just get straight thru with no problems.. gipper77 Posted September 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2007 We like to get there close to 12pm for registration. If the ship is not ready for boarding you will receive a number from princess staff prior to entering the holding area before security. If the ship is ready for boarding you will go to the security screening dircetly or enter per your number. We have boarded Princess ships at San Pedro around 15 times. Only one time did we have to wait more that 10 min. to board. Over all the process is very fast and painless. Enjoy your cruise.
