The Poker boom has happened since we last cruised so we have a few questions. We will be cruising on AOS this coming May. Does RCI have poker in it's casinos? If not has anyone gotten a poker game going in the card room onboard? We are poker nuts (both DW and I) and would love to play while cruising. Any info would be helpful.

You will find a Texas Hold Em table, and tourney during your cruise. Normal table is 2-5 blinds, 5-10 bets house rack is 10%. Some nights it can be no limit. On the limit nights jokingly it is often called no Fold Em as players will throw money away playing for the inside straight, etc.

I'm not sure about Adventure yet because I haven't been on her yet. But, on Liberty of the Seas it was 2/5 no limit every night. (People were betting big, $70 before the flop) Someone even called $100 bet like it was a $10 bet. I was amazed. They held a couple tournaments for $120.

I played of coarse because I'm a texas hold'em addict. It was my first time playing in a casino and at a table. (But, I knew how to play Texas Hold'em because I've been playing it online for 5 years) I lost the first night. However, the last night I won $175 on one hand and quit. :D I had pocket 6's and a 6 came out, that was my big hand.

Of coarse, I had no emotion because my heart was racing and I was sweating. I was the only women at the table most of the time.

Those chasers will break you quick if you dont catch. The reason being you can beat 1 of them, but when NO ONE folds, your aces are junk against all the draws they are shooting for. Trust me on this, it will be some of the worst poker you have ever seen played. Also with only 5 to a table, the blinds come quick. If you play tight, you can drop 100 just to blinds in about an hour.

My last 7 day cruise had a poker table with limit poker every night. My buddies and I had brought our chips with us on board and we had several games throughout the week at various places on the ship. Just found a quiet place, near a bar of course, and set up. No problems at all. Which cruise in May? If it's the May 4 AOS come on over to the roll call and say hi. Have fun, Jim

On the Rhapsody there were a few Texas Hold-em no-limit poker tournaments scheduled in the Casino with a $125 buy-in. I think the second one was cancelled.

I also noticed a post on the community board for hold-em games played in the card room with low buy-ins for anyone interested. I saw a game in progress once with about 5 people.

The table we played on was a converted BJ table and played seven at a time.

Just off Radiance and their game was at a converted black jack table, so only 7 players max. We were on the Jewel last year and they had a regular hold 'em table in the sports bar. Radiance personnel said they will get a hold 'em table while in dry dock in March 2008. Our game was fairly friendly, lots of newbies playing, didn't get started until 10:00 most nights, and the rake is high at 10% with max of $10.

Last week on the MOS, the game was always $2/5 NL. Minimum by-in $100, max $500. I would call it fairly high stakes. The avg buy-in was $200.

We had the same players each night - a group of about 20, but only 1 poker table for 10. I won about $1000 over the course of a week at poker.

They also had poker tournaments. The format wasn't the best, but someone did win a free cruise.
