Tipping in Portofinos

We left our server $20 in cash. The service was top notch and we had a great time. Dinner in Portofino's was a 2 - 2 1/2 hour event - it's not just a meal. We really enjoyed it and we'll do it again. I recommend you book early to get the day and time you want. You won't regret the experience.

We too tipped extra for the excellent service received in Chops on the Mariner in January and asked our servers if there was any difference between putting them on the sea pass and cash. They told us if it were on the sea pass,it was split between all the wait staff in Chops and if it were cash, the servers that directly waited upon our table would split it. We had all brought cash so that was no problem.

I am not saying that was true or would be true all of the time but only that that is what we were told. Has anyone else heard that?

We were on voyager oct of 03 and asked the same question....we were told that out of the $20 charge only $1.50 was tip...so we added more....can be charged to seapass...hope this helps

One thing I have noticed about this issue on CC is that everyone who asks this question while onboard reports a different response from the crew. I find it odd that Royal Caribbean can't seem to give a straight answer to this question.

When we ate in Portofino's earlier this month, I had intended to leave cash, but forgot to bring any (:(another senior moment strikes!), so I just put the extra tip on my SeaPass card. They ALSO charged me a gratuity on the CORKAGE FEE. But I've already complained about that in my review.......:)
