wrp96 Posted January 10, 2008 #376 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Quick question about the skipped port. Cozumel is the first stop and Progresso is the last stop. How did they know Progresso would be skipped to keep you there overnight? Maybe I'm just confused or they changed the itinerary. I'm going to go with Texasmunk's statement about high tech weather forecasting. Also, in the past, ships have had troubles leaving the pier in Progreso if it was too windy. I know that before Wilma, Carnival had removed Progreso from most of it's itineraries because a few ships were delayed out of there every time, making the ship late back to Florida. lindslea Posted January 10, 2008 #377 Share Posted January 10, 2008 This will be our first experience being able to use the concierge lounge and I am wondering a couple of things. Are my teens allowed to go in and get juice or coke, and is Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb available there (or anywhere else on the ship)? Is this a smoking or non-smoking area? And does anyone know if RC still sells non-alcoholic frozen drink cards like the did several years ago?
robtx100 Posted January 10, 2008 #378 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Actually Roatan was our first port. We did the canopy zipline which in Roaton which was awesome (note the ship did not offer) by the time we got to the beach the storm was in. We skipped Progreso because of weather. Capt Gerry reported we could not enter the channel in such high seas and the trip to Progreso would have been terrible for everyone one board, so the decision was made to overnight in Cozumel.......from there on still horrible weather, 20ft seas, no sun, so THIS made for a very bad vacation. not VOS itself. I can enjoy a ship for 3-4 days but 6!!!! Sorry I am out. I am an outdoor person so being cooped up and unfortunately even on VOS I felt cooped up. This is our itinerary. I thought it was the same for every other sailing that wasn't going to Jamaica/GC. For those of us who like to book private excursions (not because of the cost, but because of the crowds), this isn't good. It's strange that Roatan was your first port. 27-Jan Galveston, Texas 5:00 PM 28-Jan Cruising Cruising 29-Jan Cozumel, Mexico 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Docked 30-Jan Roatan, Honduras 9:00 AM 6:00 PM Docked 31-Jan Cruising Cruising 01-Feb Yucatan (Progreso), Mexico 8:00 AM 8:00 PM Docked 02-Feb Cruising Cruising 03-Feb Galveston, Texas 7:00 AM
Bobba22 Posted January 10, 2008 #379 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Hi Piemom9397, We were on the Voyager last year during the Final Four weekend and they showed the Championship game in Studio B the ice arena on a very large screen so that hundreds of people were able to watch. tkportersat Posted January 10, 2008 #382 Share Posted January 10, 2008 That would probably be cool to overnight in Cozumel, I always feel the time there is too short. But oh my, no casino for the night? That would have saved me some money :) hehe. Actually Roatan was our first port. nomoreknothead Posted January 10, 2008 #384 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Hi, how are you? Of course I remember you. I do still have the orange straw cowboy hat. I'll be wearing it on our Voyager. That was so nice of you to recognize me in the terminal and come up and say hi. :) Hope you have a good trip on Voyager as well as us! Say a little prayer that we have better weather than the last cruise with these ports! I'm looking forward to seeing new places! Wear that hat with pride! Snoozeman Posted January 10, 2008 #387 Share Posted January 10, 2008 It is odd that there have been few reviews up to now. I know there will be several of us reviewing though (13th) this week. I know that's too late for some of y'all (20th) Pete-I receive an email from Towmater today & she's your week. She's probably on your roll-call. (One of my fav Cruise Critic members that I've sailed with) I promised her I'd post some info from Cozumel as I have access to a computer there. I'll get the poker table, ice skating/show, & parade information at least. But maybe one of the people who have already sailed will confirm your questions! I don't know where they are? We've got a great group on the 27th so all the info will be helpful planning those little extra activities. The 20th group is also pretty active and there are a number of B2Bers on 13 & 20 and 20 & 27 so we're going to have some pretty good overlaps. 'Course by the time we get the routine down it will be April and we'll have to start training the VY crew all over again next year. About Towmater - don't think I've seen that screen name on either the 20th or 27th. Is it possible that you outed a lurker  I hope our little group hasn't scared her into lurking ;) Will be standing by the puter while you're in Cozumel. :)
Rockiesfan Posted January 10, 2008 #389 Share Posted January 10, 2008 I'll take that one! I'll find out first hand...... Since you'll be in the casino anyway . . . can you let us know if there is a 2X odds night? On Freedom last March, they had "Jamaican Me Crazy" night with 2X odds at the craps table. It really helped our game! We hadn't seen this during any of our previous cruises. Also, throw those daily compasses in your suitcase and, when you get home, post them for us! isujim Posted January 11, 2008 #393 Share Posted January 11, 2008 They lock up the soda in the morning. What if I want one? Will there be someone there who can unlock it? It has been our experience, only if the concierge is there can it be unlocked. I'm sure they will if you ask.......but if you go in before they get there, there will be no one who can unlock the pantry. At least that has been our experience. cruizinmimi Posted January 11, 2008 #395 Share Posted January 11, 2008 They lock up the soda in the morning. What if I want one? Will there be someone there who can unlock it? Yes, the liquor, wine, set-ups & sodas are locked up after the concierge leaves in the evening. Sometimes he/she does come in the morning. The Concierge sometimes has a helper set up the continental breakfast in the am and they do not show. The assistant will not be able to open up the cabinet. Only the concierge can get into the cabinets. I've been in the CL when the concierge has been in there and they will say things like "Well, we're out of sodas, sorry" "I need to restock for this afternoon". But there again, you might get lucky. It depends on the concierge:(
