Coming to Newport?

We are on the Regal Princess and will be in Newport on September 12th. I am planning to purchase our tickets ahead of time to tour the mansions through the Newport Society website. I am planning to purchase the one for the Breakers. Or do you feel one of the other mansions is better? My DH has agreed to go to just one. I would like to hear of any of your other suggestions. Thanks for your help!

I used to live in that area too and I agree with those suggestions. Take a walk past all the mansions if you have time as they are all amazing from the outside too. The town is touristy but cute and worth taking a stroll through. The weather that time of year is usually great for walking. If it's hot, the beaches are nice although sometimes filled with alot of seaweed.

I like the Astor's Beechwood Mansion Tour too. The house isn't as beautiful, but the tour is great! I also like Rosecliff. They filmed some of the Great Gatsby there. I went to college right next door to the Breakers! I remember when the QE2 was there in the 80's! I LOVE Newport!
