Tanning Beds on Explorer?

Recommended Posts

I actually thought that by now they would have tanning beds in the spas also. But, on our New Years Cruise 04-05 it was cold and no sun, we even had our heat on in our cabin in Belize, I called and asked about tanning beds, the spa person said "that is what the sun deck is for", my response ok but it is cloudy.

I think they should put tanning beds on cruise ships

Tanning beds, which pose a greater health risk than natural tanning which are bad enough health wise, are not that popular anymore. Maybe with this in mind, the cruise ship feel their fitness and spa area could be put to better use with other amenities.

Maybe not so popular where you live, but here in FL(go figure), they are still very popular.......regardless of what some think, most Floridians work and do not lay out by the pool or beach all day.....

But I agree, not so healthy to tan......I see some people with deep dark tans and I think its look horrible......all those wrinkles?? YUCK! No thanks...I prefer being pale(even though I did tan till a year or so ago)...

If you think you won't tan under clouds, you are mistaken! As long as it's warm enough to lay out without many clothes, you will get the sun's rays--even through the clouds!!!!

Tan before you hit the ship! It will take more than one session to get a "base tan" and you don't want to do the max your first time in a tanning bed! Start early!

I am surprised that it is still popular in Florida where you get much more sun exposure than here in Canada.icon13.gif

DW can attest how unhealthy too much sun exposure is as she has had large chunks of her skin cut out several times to remove the melanoma and the scars are not very nice. Good thing the surgeon got it all as it has been over five years since her last major surgery. She still goes to a skin specialist every six months to be checked out and they cut out suspicious spots occasionally .icon7.gif
