bazzaw Posted November 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2007 Dear Mr. Ward, Thank you for your e-mail to MSQ about the P & O cruise ship "PACIFIC DAWN" and her ability to visit Brisbane The PACIFIC DAWN has a length overall of 251 metres and is within the Port Procedures limitations to berth at Portside Brisbane Cruise Ship Terminal The article that was printed in the Courier Mail on Wednesday 31 October 2007 was not totally correct about a number of claims that were made. The limiting length overall for cruise ships at Hamilton Reach is 270 metres. This is over the international accepted safety standard, but through extensive risk analysis based on full ship simulation and the manoeuvrability of modern cruise ships we were able to allow the extra length. It is with regret that the article was printed without consultation with the Harbour Master.
MsMinx Posted November 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2007 Thanks for the info Barry! Glad to hear we won't be missing out on seeing the Dawn up close at least! How long is the Queen Vic? Will she be allowed in to Portside in Feb?
