Celebrity Rules

You know it keeps on changing into reduced areas, but it is limited to certain areas and certain places on the ship. Last time I sailed in March, it was still OK to smoke at the outside pool deck on the starboard side (someone check me back if I have the smoking sides right) and they did still allow smoking in the casino at certain areas/machines. There also seems to be an area outside of the dining room that smoking is conducted, allowed or not, and smoking might have been allowed in one of the bar/lounges.

Best to do is get some general ideas now and wait for the daily in you cabin to better direct you to the posted locations.

But it might be a good opportunity for your friend to quit while on board since one of the best opportunities is when the environment changes. The patch is a great tool to use to help accomplish the end result coupled with the change in environment. I promise it is.

Cigarette smoking is =NOT= permitted on the starboard (right) side of the ship, indoors OR outdoors per the Celebrity FAQ's:

It's easier to say where it is NOT permitted. You are not allowed to smoke in the theater or the restaurants or on the Starboard side of public spaces (indoors and out). Other than that, smoking is allowed. All cabins, all balconies, the port side of all outdoor decks and indoor lounges, the casino... You can smoke in any of those places at this time. However, that will likely change at some point.

That's cigarette smoking in particular. Cigar and pipe smoking are far more restricted.

Hey there Tradogna - Probably still a bit more liberal than in your current state. But its changed here in the past few years...no smoking in Bars/Restaurants...the casinos in Atlantic City now have designated smoking areas...still can smoke outside and the enforcement by law of a limitation for the number of feet outside of buildings has still not gone into effect.

We are going on are first Celebrity cruise in April. We have a smoker in are group. He always follow the rules, so could you tell me wear he can smoke on a Celebrity cruise the Mercury. Thanks. Teresa

Since you are going in April please be advised that Royal Caribbean Cruise lines, a sister line of Celebrity is changing their rules to more restrictive areas. It is widely expected that Celebrity will do the same and probably prior to April. It is not known at this point exactly what those rules will be but you could be caught in a transition period...
