Hello Krazy Kruizers,
On our last cruise on the Millennium (from FLL to SAN) we stopped in Fuerte Amador on Apr. 2, 2004. The ship spent most of the day crossing the canal so it lowered the anchor at Fuerte Amador at about 6:00 PM about a mile or so from the pier. There was no terminal or a place for the ship to be at the pier. Panama city was in the background ilumminated by the setting sun as the ship was approching the land.
There were about 4 tours offered by the cruise line and some people took a taxi to see Panama city.
Wife and I were pretty much 'tired out' from the whole day of interesting activities ( and the hot sun) in the transit of the canal and had no interest to go on any tour.
We did take the ternder to the pier after dinner just to walk around a litlte and see tiny bit of Panama.
There were a number of restaurants and the usual shops that are present in all ports.
The last tender back to the ship was at 11:00 PM and some just barely made it.
