Jeepers385 Posted September 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2004 Just read the story and how sad. I've been on this ship and love her and her crew. I hope all that are injured heal quickly and a prayer goes out to all. Debbie

Druke I Posted September 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2004 Damn shame. Bermuda newspaper article seemingly confused as to whether it was lifeboat or life raft - huge difference. Refers to it both ways. Michael
Pam in CA Posted September 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2004 According to Cruise News Daily, seven people were injured -- everything from minor scrapes to broken bones. It was during a routine lifeboat drill, the lifeboats had been deployed and after the drill, the boat was being hoisted out of the water. At about 30 feet, one of the cables detached and then the other, sending the boat down. Michael, according to CND, it was a lifeboat.

laginog Posted September 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2004 This happened to another crew when my parents were aboard a few years ago. I can't recall which cruiseline it was but one crewmember was killed. He was the single father of a 12-year-old daughter. They said it was a very "somber" cruise after that day.
