Does anyone know if you can carry your own alcohol on RCI ships?

What do you mean? Can you order a drink and carry it around the ship, yes. can you sneak alcohol on, maybe if caught they will return it last day. If not caught then you can make up your drink in your room and carry it around the ship.

No, they frequently check and will confiscate.

If you mean bring your own stuff on the ship, then the answer is no, RCCI will take it and keep it until the end of the cruise. That goes for booze purchased in ports of call. RCCI states in their documents that they will also check for booze in things like water bottles, mouthwash bottles and things like that. Can you get away with smuggling? Lots have tried and succeeded, so if it's that important, go for it. But don't get mad if they find it and take it away.

Yes you can carry on your own liquor. But, the million dollar question is, can you do it without getting caught :p ?

i read in their brocure that if your caught they have permission to not allow you to board the ship. has this happened to anyone?

Their policy does say that but I have never seen it enforced nor read of it being enforced.
