cruisin'sz Posted December 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2007 When we booked our trip, lava was apparently still flowing and visible from the ship - I've since read that the lava changed it's path - any feedback on this? We'll be on 11 day POA cruise in Feb.
kapoho2 Posted December 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2007 We live outside of Hilo and right now there are no visible lava flows either from land or sea. The lava is still flowing, but it is in a very remote area. Of course, this could change at any moment!!!

Lava supply to the original perched channel has been, in part, redirected through this new outlet, cutting off supply to the eastward tube which had been feeding flows in the vicinity of Pu`u Kia`i through much of November. " We were fortunate enough to see this at night as we cruised from Hilo to Kona a couple of days later. Awesome sight.
