Triumph Info Thread - Let's start one!

We sailed her at the end of January and will never sail on her again. We were on the Destiny last year and loved it......the Triumph was a disappointment. She is showing her years, the food was always cold, and the staff is not very friendly. We had a wonderful room stewart, he was great and Carnival has the best bed.......a good night sleep every night. Bar service was very slow. It will be awhile before we sail on Carnival again. It seems they have cut corners and it's just not the same Carnival we knew from years ago.

We are going on our first cruise on May 17th, 2008. This is a Western Caribbean 7 day cruise. Anyone else going on that cruise?

Any tips would be great. :D

Is there any way to find out where your cabin is located on the Carnival Web site?

Also I hear people saying to book things with company's that are not with Carnival. Would you recommend this for a newbie?

You'll have a great time. We just got off the Triumph a month ago, and loved it. This was not our first Carnival cruise, and there are many more to come.

It is what you make of it.

Check out this website for a lot of Triumph info.

We are looking forward to going back on the Truimph, wow I cant beieve its almost here We booked last April, but it is fun watching the countdown clock get us one day closer :D We got hit with some snow last night so we have a SNOWDAY :D :D ( I drive school bus, its been about 2 months since the last one) So today will be a great day to get all the last minute stuff taken care of. We are expecting a bit more wear and tear then the last time. But we dont go on looking for the imperfections, we go looking for fun and relaxation.

To be honest, we didn't see the wear, there were a few rust areas on the metal support beams seen out on the balcony from the salty sea mist always there, but they were high up and not noticable unless you looked up there. The carpet a little worn when you got to the top of each staircase (where they have the floor number at the top). Otherwise everything was just beautiful and shiny, very clean ship. The staff was there in a few minutes picking up trays that people put out in the hallway, (why do people do that??? The staff can come in your cabin and get your trays !!!). I thought the ship was great, the bed was very comfortable and the linens are so nice. The cabin didn't show any wear, the coral tile color in the bathroom was a little different, but still looked very nice and there was no wear in there like chipped tiles or anything. Didn't notice any smell like some people stated above, and we had some rainy days stuck inside on the seadays and couldn't go out on deck. Can't complain much.

Newcantwait: go on the Carnival site and click on deck plans to locate where your cabin is. The site has so much info ono the ship, even short videos and photos. Check out webshots for personal photos people take on their cruises (we have some there under minn.cruisers), lots of the cabin and ship on there.

Here is afew more questions... Are any drinks free? I thought that I read that juice or tea was free, but I can not find that now. I must have been dreaming. LOL

Also we pre paid our tips but do you tip a little more while on the ship?

And how about being sea sick? Any issues with that? We are going in May and I am praying for smooth seas.

We gave alittle extra to cabin steward, he was great , always did our room early as little guy sometimes went down early, also would use some of his toys when he made towel animals, waiter also. We did have a table in the rear , aft Paris dining room second floor , wonderful sunsets , but it did mean we were rocked pretty good by swells and chop on way down, on day 4 gramma had to bail on dinner and go lay down, she had not replaced the patch she wore, also had alittle cold?

wasn't crazy seas, but ship seemed to rock alittle more than our last two in same seas, maybe they were bigger seas?

Free , not much , but in the south beach club, where breakfast , lunch, open dinner buffet are- there is always coffee, tea, with lots of choices, hot choclate is hit miss. Juice is free apple orange icetea fruit, Ice cream in cones and dish free, we brought on bottled waters for land excursions, but beer was cheaper, 4 for $5 LOL also brought on 2 x 12 cans of pop/soda/coke

bought sippy cup type things at cheap store in Orlando so kids could fill and keep hydrated with juice.

Thanks! That is very helpful. I had been wondering what that extra might end up being. I just don't want to die of a heart attack when I am getting off of a great cruise. (I am a little leary of hidden cost.)

We will not have our kids on this trip, we thought that we would try our first one by ourselves and then if all goes well we will take them. They are a little up set. LOL

Ah you will love it, our next is with out the kids, LOL , be sure to get a look at the kids camp and pick up the week activity guide for each age group, non stop for the most part, Our's hate to leave and come away with shirts ,hats etc, Also they will take , as our 4 yr old can say , them for dinner on some nights and you can catch a show etc. We are pretty cheap and watch costs also, hard when there are good deals and endless sales in ship stores, and all you need is you sail/sign card. pay later. Wish I could hide it but its your room key also:eek: The welcome abaord drinks are not free either, Grab a neck thing , the type people have their keys on etc, and at purser desk or casino they will but a hole in your card so its always at hand, I found 2 on this cruise, NO didn't cash in on a free drinks

Dont forget ...

the Captains Party before your formal dinner will also have free drinks !! alcoholic ones at no charge! ;)

as far as getting sea sick ... you can take bonine the night before boarding ... and for as long as you feel you may need to... to avoid seasickness or some doctors will give you a seasick patch before sailing

Happy Sailing !!:)

Thanks again. :o All this information is good to have. I have heard about the neck thing. Very handy. If you find one do you get a free drink? I would be so worried about mine if I lost it. Can anyone charge on it, if they find it? Do you need you photo ID with it? Are the sales any good?????

I think the kids will enjoy it but I KNOW we will. We have two teenage girls and an 8 year old boy. If we take them we will have to get a cruise closer to home the airfair is the killer.
