Got Marriott Copenhagen on Priceline $125.

Read up on the information I needed on betterbidding and biddingfortravel and went for it. First try I bid $125 for May 19 (pre cruise night) and got it!! Just love Priceline. Rooms go for $450.

Congratulations! That is a good price. It is right along the canal and a 10 min. walk to the center of town. Bus goes by and taxi is at front.

I bid a 2 weeks ago for May and got the rate of $110 per night. The rates do not include taxes.

I probably should have started lower and worked my way up if necessary, but I thought they wouldn't even consider less and didn't want to spend days rebidding. I'm happy with my result, unfortunately it doesn't include taxes.

I see that there are now three 4-star hotels listed on Priceline for Copenhagen: the Kong Fredrek, the Palace Hotel and the Marriott. I'm not sure that there's any certainty now that one can bid and expect to get the Marriott. Oh well.

2serendip...wow! Glad I got it when I did. I've read some not so great things about the Palace on Tripadvisor, but also read somewhere they have been bought by Starwood and rennovating it and it is supposed to become a 5*. Can't remember where I read that, I've been doing so much research.

 

By the way, I'd love to know about your screen name. I own a company called favors by serendipity, and your screen name jumped out at me.

All the hotels have always been on priceline. In all the threads I read going way back everyone got the Marriott when bidding. I believe the hotels have to agree to it and perhaps the Marriott is the only one that has.

I also just got a bid on the Marriott Copenhagen today on priceline at $115 for June 28. I bid $105 yesterday and it didn't get accepted they counter offered $124 so I did a new bid today to split the difference and bid $115 and it got accepted. Comes out to about $150 with taxes and fees. Seems likes a good rate given what other hotels are going for in Copenhagen.

We got Marriott for $132 in August. First time I have bid or had anything to do with Priceline will I need to take a copy of our booking confirmation with us as well as photo ID for check in?

I bid $115 for three rooms pre-cruise for August 28 and was accepted at the Marriott. I then bid for three rooms post cruise but lowered the bid to $110 and was accepted again at the Marriott. Maybe the dates had something to do with it.

Hi Sasha'smom -- You asked about my screen name. I was an English teacher for 34 years so have some background in English lit, and I recalled that there was a drama about travellers who went to an imaginary island called Serendip where all sorts of wonderful, unplanned experiences occur. I just played on that -- of course, it's where we get our idea of "serendipity" -- and I do so value that in travels, those wonderful times when wonderfully unanticipated events just seem to fall together. I don't remember the drama or the author just now, but I do love the idea of serendipity.

Train or Taxi.

 

The hotel is 10-15 minutes away from the central station and the airport train takes you to the central station in 12 minutes.

 

The taxi is easier but more expensive.

With the savings re: priceline hotel why not take a taxi. We did.

 

A tip: transportation from ship to hotel or to airport post cruise should be pre arranged. The line up for taxis was very long...atleast a couple of hours for those going between 8:30-9:30 am.

Copenhagen can be an expensive city but there are places/ways to save money. J.
