No pious remarks about giving up wanted from non-smokers!!

Should I buy cigarettes at the airport? How much are they on OV2 and do they sell menthol cigarettes? Also, how much are ciggies on the islands and are they international brands? Thanks.

Hi

I asked a similar question elsewhere and i gather its best to get your cigarettes at duty free inbound at Barbados airport because they are alot cheaper. Apparently its near where you collect your bags. Dont know whether they would do your brand though.

I was given the following link to a supermarket on Barbados that gives you an idea of prices. We will be there for a week before our cruise.

http://www.supercentre.com/shop.html

Hope this helps- only one day to go!! Hope you have a great time and we hope to meet you onboard in your second week.

( we are lepers too!)

I don't think you'll be able to pick those up inbound as last year we went straight onto the coaches for transfer to the ship. You don't see your luggage untill it arrives in your cabin.Have a great holidayx

not a member of your club anymore, but I did notice that the prices in the ports were very good on both cigarettes and alcohol. Of course, these are the two things you're not allowed to bring back on the ship, so you might get parted from them as you re-board (to be returned before the end of your holiday. Presuming it works the same as the alcohol.)

Thanks.. Think I'd better buy some to take with me, at least until we get somewhere that I can buy menthol.. They'd be silly to try and take my ciggies from me if they don't sell menthol!!!

Can you actually smoke anywhere on OV2 now, or have they banned it everywhere yet? I've got used to not stinking of smoke after a night out and was hoping it would be the same on board.

It's pretty darned good actually!

It's a relatively smoke-free ship.

You will smell 'live' smoke up on deck, when someone lights up

but that's not a problem,really - it's the lingering indoor problem.

Yes, you can smoke in the Casino

and on one of the Deck 7's(lifeboat's hanging overhead)

on one side only, but other than that..

OV2 is no longer a Floating Ashtray as portrayed in many older reviews!!

Can't answer for OV2, but OV1 did a 15% off day on the at sea day, and I found it cheapest tobuy then. I was buying for a friend.

When we did the East caribbean before I was told St Maarten was best place for duty free, and we did eventually find a small shop in the main shopping street that was cheaper than the ship.

Wanted to email you after our OV2 cruise in Jan but lost your contact details by the time I got round to doing it. If you are still reading this board, post a reply and I'll try and work out a way of contacting eachother.

As a fellow leper & menthol only smoker I didn't give a second thought to not being able to buy my usual brand on board OV2....WRONG!! They sell Marlboro menthol EWWWW & the rest are regular cigerettes. Although they are very cheap I couldn't smoke normal so bought some menthol at the port in Palma. Really Cheap about £15 I think for 200 (Berkeley menthol I think was all they had but better than spanish rubbish  ) I struggled on port days to find any menthol that weren't foreign or Marlboro in the shops.

I'd buy at the airport if you only smoke menthol like myself otherwise buy on board if your happy with regular ciggies.

Hope that helps :D

Can I suggest all you smokers buy one of these

www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk

I've had one for over a month and gone from 20 to around 3-4 a day with a view to 0 shortly.

Bonus is that you can LEGALLY "smoke" it wherever you want as you are not burning tobacco which is the crux of any smoking ban.

What an amazing techno-device!

You realize this 'alternative technology' could collapse the economies

of several tobacco-growing Eastern Seaboard U.S. states

Virginia,Kentucky, the Carolina's...

Uncle Sam won't be happy!:D

Thank you for causing my health premiums to skyrocket. Keep on smokin.

I love mortality tables causing my premiums to rise about 7%. Annually.

here is some food for thought, the average smoker in the USA smokes 4 1/2 packs every week. At an average price in 2015 of $7.25 per pack that's $ 32.62 weekly. So, in a year that's $1,700 rounded up to the nearest 10.

THATS A CRUISE!!! If I could stop cold turkey 20 years ago. So could you.

Anyway, if all you smokers start dying off, who will I have left to piss off on CC?

Hi OV'ers,

I've got some news......Looks like you Britts are getting her back. It's just been announced that she will be joining Cruise & Maritime Voyages after a refit, next year.

I have no idea what this cruise line is like but I hope she has many happy years of cruising with them.

Hope you looked after Her. We have fond memories of OV1 and sailed on her 5 times. Perhaps Cruise and Maritime will get some new customers
