movinout Posted January 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2008 We're going on the Pearl in April repositioning through Panama Canal to Seattle. Just wondering from those who have recently sailed on her...how are the night clubs aboard ship? Is there a Piano bar? Does the cruise director get involved in the entertainment around ship? Any info regarding the ship wide entertainment would be appreciated!! Thanks:)
2tnts Posted January 25, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2008 We were on the Pearl i November. We liked all of the shows except Second City. And actually we are from Chicago. We did not go to the crew production. The jugglers (can't remember the name) were very good, also Jean Ryan were also good. The cruise director was not my favorite. You heard his voice around the ship, on TV and behind the scenes and thats about all. I am used to the CD opening shows and other entertainment. I have been on 21 cruises in the past seven years and every cruise director opened and closed the shows each evening in the main theater. What is the name of the cruise director that did not make these appearances in front of the passengers??? I think it is not good PR to stay completely behind the scenes and just be a "voice" to everyone on board.
CrusinAgain Posted January 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2008 Entertainment is very disappointing on the Pearl especially if you have been on a Princess or Carnival ship. They really only have the evening show and during the day there isn't much scheduled activities to do however pool lovers have no problems with NCL's activity schedule. wxtrix Posted January 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2008 Is there a Piano bar? yes--in Bar Central, right outside Le Bistro. we spent a number of pleasant evenings there on our cruise.
CrusinAgain Posted January 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2008 When you ask "is there a Piano Bar?" are you asking for piano entertainment or easy listening. Because NCL's Piano Bar is easy listening to sip your martinis to. It isn't a Piano Bar that entertains such as one on Princess or Carnival.
