Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted January 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2008 The Pride Of Hawaii sets sail today on her last cruise (7 or 12 day whatever part or both you booked) today. The first part is the 7 days around the islands followed by the 5 days to LA to become the Norwegian Jade. I never thought I would say such a new ship was setting sail on her last cruise. I just hope that this is a blessing in disguise and helps NCL America pull a profit. Whoever is on this last cruise I hope they have a good one. Sue G Posted January 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2008 Hi We are booked to sail on the Jade at the end of May in the Med. Do you know if during her change from POH to Jade if they will be upgrading her to Freestyle 2.0? We have sailed with NCL once before on the Dream and I must say we thought the crew were a wonderful bunch of people. Keep up the good work. GoldieAZ Posted January 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2008 My husband and I just LOVED the POH when we sailed on her in 2006. My FIL and his wife will be on the HON-LA cruise next week after I prodded them to look into this sailing. Unfortunately, we were not able to join them, as I had already made arrangements to be on the NCL SUN with Mom during that same period. May all enjoy her last voyage as part of the NCLA fleet,
celem Posted January 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2008 I'm booked on the Jade from Miami to Barcelona, departing Miami on February 29th. I was hoping that the 2.0 Lobsters were going to be in effect but I've heard no comments that would indicate that. In fact, I heard that it will be the summer of 2008 before all of the ships have 2.0 in effect. I've read that the transatlantic casino will be a temporary setup with the permanent casino being installed in Barcelona. Doesn't bother me as I don't gamble, but it does indicate how my particular cruise is going to be transitional in how they do business. Also OK as I was able to snag it at a wonderful price. I sure was hoping for those lobsters, however!

Sad to see the POH leave Hawaiian waters, but let's hope that it does help the fiscal health of NCLA...we hope to be repeating our experience on the POAM in 2009! kapoho2 Posted January 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2008 I live on the Hilo side of the Big Island and have seen the POH here every Tuesday. We did the island cruise twice on the POH. Yesterday, when I was in Hilo and saw the POH we realized that it was the last time she would be visiting our island. My husband and I bid a sad farewell to her, but also pledged that someday we will book a cruise on the "new" Jade.
jollyroger2 Posted January 31, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 31, 2008 I so wanted to get on the 5 day Honolulu to LA (inside gty at $198.00) because we are on the Jade Mar. 30 but flight from Vanc. to HNL and LAX back to Vanc. with the cheap cruise would still have made the 5 days $1600.00. Oh well, one can always dream!

The Aloha and us had to skip it but had a great whale watching day between Lanai and Maui.
