Hyatt Regency or Holiday Inn-Port of Miami

I've stayed at both and they each have their pros and cons. As for the Holiday Inn, it's convenient to walk to Bayside where there are tons of shops and restaurants. If you get a high room facing the port the view is gorgeous in the morning when the ships come in. The hotel itself and the rooms are pretty standard unless they've renovated since I've been there.

The Hyatt is more upscale. Both the hotel itself and the rooms. To get to Bayside Marketplace you can walk or take the People Mover which is free and you can get to that directly through the hotel. Some don't feel safe doing either at night, but we had a group of us and felt fine taking the People Mover back at night. I'm sure a cab wouldn't be much as Bayside is really just around the corner.

I used Priceline and got the Hyatt for 55.00 a night which was a no-brainer as it normally was 200+. This was at least 2 years ago though, not sure what it's coming up for now. The Holiday Inn doesn't come up on Priceline, or at least it didn't used to. If I hadn't of been able to get a better hotel for cheaper, I'd have stayed at the Holiday Inn for the convenience.

Hope that helped.
