will work to cruise Posted February 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2008 I received my statement yesterday and broke the 25,000 point mark. I called B of A and asked about the certificate so I can have the $250 OBC for my June cruise. They said I will receive it in 7-10 days. What's my next step when I receive the certificate? Thanks for any and all help. Mike
Sue L Posted February 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2008 When you get your certificate, there will be a certificate number on it. Call RCI Points Redemption, give them the number and how you want the certificate used (in your case, putting money towards your cruise)..........then fill out the certificate, check off the proper box, MAKE A COPY, and send to the address given. The number for RCI Points Redemption is 1-888-305-4626. bubbie617 Posted February 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2008 If you call B of A back and ask them to give you the certificate number, you can call Royal Caribbean, give them the number and they will apply it to your account immediately. You can then follow it up with the certificate when you get it. Better to do it in two steps than for there to be a delay. Have fun spending your OBC. NYCRUISR Posted February 14, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2008 I have redeemed points twice. Both times I was given the certificate # over the phone. When I rec'd them I sent it off in the mail. Of course I took a copy first! Our first redemption was for the "free" cruise for 2. We are going on Adventure in April. We were lucky enough to be grandfathered in and got the cruise booked by the deadline before they raised the points required. Then we spent more $$ and so now I redeemed again and I'm applying the points to on board credit. So far I need air fare, excursion $$ and tips! Carol

kenandlaura06 Posted February 15, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2008 It is so frustrating that half of them don't seem to know what they are doing...when I called to redeem my 50,000 points, the woman said that there was no way she could give me the certificate #--and it took over 16 business days for the certificate to come in the mail! endi302 Posted February 15, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2008 does anyone know if you can redeem 50,000 for a free cruise but then move up to a balcony or higher and pay the difference?
aqhacruiser Posted February 15, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 15, 2008 I've used the Visa award points for OBC several times and I take it at 25,000 so 250.00 OBC. I do not bother getting the certificate number, I just call the number on back of card, get the certificate in less then 10 days, fill out the back and check OBC and mail it to the C & A address AFTER I take a copy of it. I call C & A about a week later to be sure it was applied and I always bring the copy of it with me onboard in case there is ever a question. I do the same thing with shareholders statement just in case but I've never had an issue with either one. I use that Visa card for everything, pay it in full each month and the points really add up quick. Love that card! :D
neriton Posted February 15, 2008 #16 Share Posted February 15, 2008 Does anyone know the terms and conditions of what you can and can not use the RCCI Visa OBC for? I assume it's good for the usual stuff like excursions, drinks, spa, shops, etc. and you can NOT apply it to cash/chips you buy at the casino. Specifically, can you use it to pre-pay tips? Thanks, -Dan

TwiliteNights Posted February 15, 2008 #18 Share Posted February 15, 2008 When you do receive your certificates, (can take 2 to 4 wks) not only should you make copies of the front and back (showing what you selected OBC or such on the back)...But, what was not mentioned is: send it to the Kansas address on the certificate and ALWAYS send "Return Receipt Requested". C&A told me to always do this. I have used my points many times and will always send in this manner. C&A told me that the certif. points are usually added approx. a week before your cruise departs. This has been the normal routine for as long as I can remember. Oh and YES....BA can and should give you your cert. #'s at time of requesting them...don't let any agent tell you they can't. Call C&A give them the number and they will be looking for them to arrive. They'll know you have a legal certif. by your numbers ending with a RL at the end. Thanks, -Dan Your onboard credit is used for anything you can purchased onboard...except CASH. It's just like your Seapass card being used to purchase anything cashless. You present your Seapass card for whatever your wanting (spa, excursions, drinks, gift shop and etc.) and it goes on your account until your credit is used up. Make sure you keep track of your purchases and check out your account on the TV in your stateroom every day. This way you will know how much credit you have left at the end of each day. Not sure about the tips, as I've always pre-paid mine. I would think NOT since that is not a purchase. Hopefully someone else has knowledge of this more than I. neriton Posted February 15, 2008 #20 Share Posted February 15, 2008 Just called BOA and redeemed 25K points. No problems at all. They were very friendly and helpful, knew exactly what I was talking about (used the wording from another thread and said I wanted to redeem some Royal Caribbean Visa Points and asked for a 25,000 point certificate). They didn't offer the certificate number but they gave it to me when I asked for it. From some other boards, folks seem to have used the OBC for tips. -Dan

It is your money and can be used how you choose.
mamaza Posted February 15, 2008 #22 Share Posted February 15, 2008 I just applied this a.m. and hope that I get the 15,000 points since that is what the website says. I'll find out when I get the paperwork in about a week. Make a copy of the website statements, and possibly email them to yourself so you have a dated copy if there is a dispute. As far as use of the OBC for your card, I know I once got chips for use at a table game from the cashier and she charged it to my OB acct. But, I know the other things you listed can be charged to the acct. and thus are subtracted from the OBC.
wrp96 Posted February 15, 2008 #23 Share Posted February 15, 2008 I got my statement this morning. I'm calling when I get home tonight to redeem it for OBC for my May cruise!! Hopefully once I combine that with my gift certificates I've already received (my family knows just what I want for Christmas and birthdays:p) my onboard spending bill won't be TOO bad. sr4mjc Posted February 15, 2008 #24 Share Posted February 15, 2008 Does the certificate have a name on it? If not, can you give your points away to someone else (I know, the horror!) I have a friend who opened the card to get the 15,000 points and will probably not be able to go on the cruise with us. Could she give the voucher to someone else to use?
