CCJack Posted February 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2008 Does anyone know about medical coverage and travel insurance. My question is would normal health insurance (HMO as an example) supplement the travel insurance if the expenses exceed the travel insurance coverage. Or do most HMOs not cover out of the country? Sue L Posted February 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2008 Call your HMO for those kinds of questions because they are all different.
cb at sea Posted February 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2008 It depends on YOUR policy! Call them and ask if it covers you out of country! Everyone's policy is different! Travel insurance is different from medical. Travel ins. usually just covers "trip-related" things, like lost or damaged luggage or items, cancellations, missed flights, etc... Medical is just that--for HEALTH related problems that may occur. Call your health ins. company and see if you have enough coverage for your trip.
