kas141 Posted February 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2008 My fiance and I are honeymooning on AOS on 7/20, and I'm looking for some feedback on this tour. Worth the $$? Any other suggestions for tours? The date we will be in Barbados (7/22) is his birthday, so I want to treat him to something special. He has never been to the Caribbean before and we love to be active (ie snorkeling, ziplines, etc). TIA!
emen822 Posted February 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2008 When we were in Barbados, we did the Silvermoon. If you check out the ports of call forum, you will see it gets rave reviews. I highly recommend it. http://www.silvermoonbarbados.com/

TupeloHoney Posted February 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2008 We did this excursion. It was really nice. I recommend it. We wanted to do Silvermoon, but they were booked, and it was more expensive anyway. We were pleased with the Tiami excursion.
skyw Posted February 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2008 We did it but it was Dec 2002. We liked it. The food was yummy. The only thing that I didn't care for was it got really crowded when we were at the Turtle stop. Not much to see and people kicking and flapping about. We were there with other tours. other then that we enjoyed the stops and the food.

The Tiami tour I took was excellent. Definitely worth the money.
High C's Posted February 27, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2008 We took the Tiami tour last year while on a Celebrity cruise. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, and the crew we had on our particular trip were very entertaining!
terri23 Posted February 27, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2008 another vote for Silvermoon. we did Silvermooon II and it was the best day of our whole cruise. :D
kas141 Posted February 27, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted February 27, 2008 I've contacted Silvermoon - seems like Tiami might be more crowded and a party-boat atmosphere. Not really what we're looking for (particularly the crowded part......) Thanks all for your input!
wrp96 Posted February 27, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 27, 2008 I'll highly recommend the Silvermoon as well. The cruiseship excursions will be much more crowded than the Silvermoon.
Sheffie Posted February 27, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Ditto on the Silver Moon. We did this excursion the last two years and it is one of our all-time favorites! I do have some pictures in my signature if you want to get excited!
Aimiloo Posted February 27, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 27, 2008 I took the Tiami when i was not on a cruise and holy all heck the captain was so hot i'd do it again in a heart beat. **swoon** ;)
Mudslide50 Posted February 28, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 28, 2008 Was one of my favorite tours. Unfortunately, some one did not listen to the instructions when snorkeling with sea turtles, so they didn't stay around long, but the second snorkel stop was wonderful. Food was great, was a surprize when they gave you dishes instead of paperplates, drinks were cold, coffee was hot, crew was outstanding. Would do this tour over again. cruzfiend Posted February 29, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 29, 2008 I didn't think it was a party atmosphere at all:) We had a nice time but nobody got wild and crazy.
Mr. planner Posted February 29, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 29, 2008 We did this excursion last year 1 May. We sailed along the coast to a spot where the turtles hang out or come to because of the food the tour guids feed them. Yes it gets a little crowded when you have 30 people surrounding 5 or 6 turtles. It is cool to watch them swim by gracefully. Bring an under water camera. After the turtles they beach the catamaran and give you time on your own. You can hang out on the beach or go to the nearby reef. I chose the reef. one of the crew had rolls that he was breaking up and tossing in the water to attract the fish. He gave some to me and I swam off. The fish come from all over. A rainbow of fish. After that it was time to eat. They had chicken and flying fish. The flying fish was quite good. The rum punch was great. lots of rum to a rumor of punch. Highly recomend it. We also did the Pirates of caribbean cruise at St. Lucia, wedding on the beach at Jolly Beach in Antigua (great beach), Swim with the dolphins at Anguilla (cool too), St Thomas private tour. What ever you do it will be great.

The shipwreck area was kinda deep but you could still see it. I would prefer a little more shallow water to snorkel so your closer to the fish, but it was ok. Like I said earlier, swimming with the Turtles was awesome !!
