Last minute questions before sailing on Sunday

We're doing our first cruise on the Valor this weekend. I've gotten most of my info on cruising from this site! Three questions: should I be bringing extra hangers or are there plenty? Do most people just do the $10 per day per person tipping and leave it at that? (Except for the miscellaneous extras...room service, bartender, etc. as we go along.) And, how cold does it get in the evenings on the ship...thin sweater chilly or polar fleece cold? It's the Western Caribbean tour. Any extra thoughts are welcome, too. Just a couple of days to go and we're really getting psyched!

9summit,

We bring our suits on hangers and everything else we place in drawers so I've never really paid attention to how many hangers there are.

We leave the $10 per person per day and tip extra where it seems appropriate; Camp Carnival staff, Lido staff if someone stands out, Casino dealers (Lay the tip on the table, don't hand it to them), etc.

All drinks have tips built in.

It gets 'thin sweater' chilly. Not polar fleece.

Have a great cruise!

I brought extra on the cruise prior to my last and used them, I didn't on my last cruise and could have used them. Both those cruises I was travelling solo, next cruise I'll be with my BF so I think we'll be taking a few extra, though, I'm sure if you asked your cabin steward you could get some extra if needed.

I'm not sure what most people do but I generally give over and above the automatic tips to my cabin steward and dining room team, if I feel they deserve it and so far I always have.

The coldest place I found was the dining room in the morning LOL. Really, in my experience the coolest place is inside where it's air conditioned. I generally bring a light sweater for evenings outside but never needed it. I always have a fleece with me because I'm travelling from the north and the only time I ever used it was in Florida.

Relax, have a good time and don't overthink things. You get a lot of good info here but there's nothing like your first cruise to teach you what you need to know, for the next one and the one after that, and then your third, cause you know, the biggest warning is, you might just get addicted!

We dont bring extra hangers, but we wind up hanging up tee shirts and things and running out, so we hang more than one tee shirt per hanger and then hanging pants over the bottom of some of the same hangers, you can make do with what they give you.

If you have children, the automatic tips wouldnt include the folks who take care of your children, you might tip them extra. I tip for shuttle rides from some of the ports stuff like that too, so I bring a envelope of ones, fives and a few 10s. Helps for having change to buy stuff in ports too.

You can ask for bathrobes for your cabin, we did and got them.

I didnt get cold, but thats me, some others above said they were chilly.

There are hangers and you can ask for more or take your things already on hangers.

Yes, we tip the $10pp plus extra for those deserving it (steward, waiters, etc) not including the built in tips for bartenders, etc.

It just depends on the weather and the ship how cold it is. We take a nice warm sweatshirt or sweater and a light jacket just in case. Sometimes we've needed it, sometimes we haven't.

Extra tips--do have fun and relax. Here's a website where we have lots of tips in case you want them.

Three questions: should I be bringing extra hangers or are there plenty? Like op said, i bring my dress clothes on hangers in the garment bag. never had a need to ask for more. I think our last cruise, there were about 10 in the closets maybe more.
Do most people just do the $10 per day per person tipping and leave it at that? I don't drink, so I do have to tip the bartender. however, my extra tipping goes with the service i receive from my cabin steward, bar waiter at dinner, and waiter and asst waiter. If they are there and treat me good, remember that I want the spa desserts, and what I drink, then I will tip them. Our last cruise, if I wanted ice tea, I had to ask for it each night. On my second to last cruise, the tea was waiting at the table when I got there, as was my DD sodas from our wonderful bar waiter ALEX. And if he saw her on the ship without a glass in her hand, he brought her a drink without asking (soda) So he got a big extra tip. I felt he deserved it.
And, how cold does it get in the evenings on the ship...thin sweater chilly or polar fleece cold? I get cold in the dining room and show areas. I also get very cold on the deck. so I take a light jacket (dressy) so it can be worn anywhere I go, and with whatever I have on.

have fun.
