beach close by ship

sorry i am confused, keep hearing bamboo beach club, turtle beach for $1...what is the name of the beach close to the ship within the gated area and close to shopping? can we just walk there or is it a tour thing. or should i ask which is best? have been to jamaica b4...would like to go to a beach where the locals will not hound us. nice, quiet and a tutti-fruitti sounds great..have been to drf do not want to do that again, have shopped in ocho rios as well..no thanks to that..just a simple beach..info please! cindy

It sounds like you are asking about Doctors Cave Beach in Montego Bay. You can see it from the ship. It is near town and Margaritaville. There is a shuttle from the cruise pier that goes there.There is also Sunset Beach Resort that is the other way from the ship. Sunset is an all inclusive beach and charges a day rate for cruise passengers.

Went to Turtle Beach 3 years ago and will return for a few hours in February.

As you exit the pier stay to your left and walk past some small docks to the entrance. Back then there was a fee of $1.00 to enter the gated beach area which was free of vendors. The sand was soft and white with a gentle slope to the water. The sea was very gentle which was good for small children.

There was a snack bar with food and drinks.
