When & Where To Book a Balcony-Triumph

We are looking to book a balcony for the 5/10 Triumph cruise out of Miami and are wondering if it's best to book straight through Carnival or a discounted web site? As I'm searching for the lowest price I have been noticing that on some of the discounted web sites offer on board credits or 4 category upgrades etc as to where Carnival's web site is not listing this. what is a category upgrade and when do prices tend to drop (if any)?

 

I guess I'm asking...where and when is the best place to book?

For the agents giving out upgrades-- you et upgraded to the highest categoy available-- within the cat you booked.

 

So if you want a balcony you will be getting a balcony in the highest category available.

 

 

 

Carnival categories run as follows.

insides are cat 4

oceanview are cat 6 (window rooms)

balconies are 8's

suites are 11& 12

Few cat 9A which are located on the corner of the back with huge wrap around balconies.

 

The letter after the number denotes the deck. with A starting on the lower deck (riveria) and working its way up.

 

 

IF you get a balcony and they offer the free upgrade--ask if the upgrade can only go to the empress deck. You are between cabin space and away from public areas--like the pool- If on the veranda deck 8 you might hear scrapping of chairs.

 

When looking at prices online make sure the price you see is the whole price. Many agents do not include pot charges or government taxes. MOSt are not including the fuel charge in the price. and you might only be seeing a cruise price. MAKE sure the price you are being quoted is the WHOLE price per person.

 

The price you see online might also NOT include any discounts you might be entitiles to-resident rates, senior discounts, past guest, military rate etc.

Speaking to an agent on the phone could get you a better price.

 

Prices only go higher as the date for the cruise comes closer. The earlie you book the better the price. (in 10 cruises we only had one come down in price and we book over a year out each cruise.) You wnat an agent to make sure they will give you any price reducitons if the price does come down-- be careful and its a biggie. Not all agents will giveyou that price AFTER final payment.

 

Some agents will charge a cancellation fee-- ask how much.

Some agents will charge you for work to be done if anything needs to be changed-- so if the price comes down-- how much will it cost you to do it.

I see there is a 50.00 per person difference between picking your own cabin on the upper deck compared to booked a balcony guarantee
