CA traveler Posted March 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2008 Does anyone know how many passport pages are needed for the Black Sea cruise from Istanbul to Athens? We stop in Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, 3 stops, and Ukraine in addition to Turkey and Greece. Thanks, Susan
pvgal Posted March 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2008 We are also doing the Black Sea in August and we only were told about a visa for Turkey. But you should maybe have two or three available for stamping. Just a thought.
Druke I Posted March 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2008 We did a Danube river cruise last year, and had to have passport pages added to our passports, as the tour operator stated we had to have six totally blank pages available.
KIWP Posted March 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2008 Good rule of thumb (I am a member of the Travel Industry) is to have at least 5 to 10 available pages. The continuous changes in political relationships dictate the required documentation for entry into countires. As such, even if an advance Visa is not required, you will have sufficient room in the Passport for "upon arrival" stamps or whatever the particular country may decide to impose. Better be prepared in advance, rather than missing out!!
Jancruz Posted March 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2008 It is really easy to get new pages for your passport as I just did it..I went to the US passport agency on line and downloaded the application..I sent it off with a stamped return envelope and within 10 days had it back..NO CHARGE.. Ask4Jay Posted March 13, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2008 When you count the blank pages you have left, do NOT include the last ones labeled "Amendments and Endorsements". Some countries, if not all, will not use them for their Entry stamp.
CA traveler Posted March 13, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted March 13, 2008 I had 3 blank pages and 3 half stamped. But I did not see that I needed to include a self-addressed envelop. Hope I get them back in time. I'm giving them 15 weeks! thanks for the info. Susan

CA traveler Posted March 22, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted March 22, 2008 I sent my and my DH's in separate envelopes certified mail on March 13. I just checked both the Post Office website and the Passport website - mine has been processed and is being returned. My DH's just says it was accepted at the PO on the 13th - not delivered - the passport office has no record of it. yikes!!
Mexfolkart Posted March 22, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 22, 2008 I wouldn't worry if I were you..when I checked on my passport it said the same thing up until the day it came back to me. Sometimes I guess someone just forgets to enter it in. S.

CA traveler Posted March 23, 2008 Author #15 Share Posted March 23, 2008 I received my passport with the extra pages. Still no word on my husband's. The Post Office informed me that they cannot track certified mail so we do not know where the passport is. All I know is that it is not at the Passport office according to their website information. I will give them another few weeks before reporting a lost passport because my DH is too busy, tax season work, to even consider going into the post office to apply for a new passport. CA traveler Posted March 24, 2008 Author #17 Share Posted March 24, 2008 I mailed both jusy certified mail. I erroneously thought the PO could track certified mail since they gave me a number for the envelop.
lahore Posted March 28, 2008 #18 Share Posted March 28, 2008 Well I'm just envious. When we run out of pages, we need to pay for a new passport (grrr) (Australia).
CA traveler Posted March 28, 2008 Author #19 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I do not know exactly where the passport was for 10 days, but it has finally been delivered to the passport office in Philly and they have been sending me emails as to its progress through the system. We should receive it back next week with added pages.
Rickey 88 Posted March 28, 2008 #20 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I mailed our passports to Philadelphia on March 17th, "return receipt requested". The receipt from USPS was received, but no date shown. However, yesterday, March 27th, both passports were received from South Carolina, sent by USPS first class - with receipt confirmation tracking ....... All new pages were neatly added in the middle of each passport - and after hearing problems earlier about extreme delays, I think this kind of service is what the public is entitled to! :)
potterhill Posted April 1, 2008 #21 Share Posted April 1, 2008 Canada no longer adds pages. And our passport is only good for 5 years. Mo
