g8trzz Posted March 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2008 My brother has asked me to pick him up a bottle of rum while we are in Jamaica. I do not drink and have absolutely no idea what brand to purchase. Does it really matter? Could someone recommend a good rum that they have purchased before? About how much could I expect to pay? Thanks for the help..... g8trzz
g8trzz Posted March 23, 2008 Author #2 Share Posted March 23, 2008 I forgot to ask ....we will be on the Princess Coral and I know you can purchase alcohol from them. Can anyone recommend a good rum that they sell? I don't drink at all and won't sample any, so any help is appreciated.

JHCALLAHAN Posted March 28, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2008 Appletons is awesome, but ya gotta be careful with it. It's so smooth it's easy to drink too much of it and get plowed ;) then to add insult to injury (of vice versa mebbe) it'll give ya a doozy of a hangover the next day.:( JHC
Hedocple Posted March 28, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2008 We've vacationed in JA over 10 times since 1998 and we always make sure to bring home Sangster's Original Jamaica Rum Cream. Taste's awesome on the rocks with a splash of soda. Haven't found it anywhere in the states. Appleton's is good as well.
Daycare Provider Posted March 28, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2008 The last time we were on the island Appleton said they can't ship any of the Sangsters brands to the states because Jamaica only produces 1% of the worlds sugar...If they were able to ship to the States...they would run out . We did find Sangsters in St. Marteen last April. We paid 2.00 more a bottle there than we would of on Jamaica. Appleton reserve can be bought in the states at your local Bev More... I can't wait to see Appleton in 22 days..
