SugarNSpice8104 Posted March 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2008 Will be sailing from san jaun next year and was wondering about the hotels in or around old san juan. I would like to do some shopping that would be walking distance from the hotel. Hotel Milano has a minimum of 2 nights, so thats out, and the Sheraton is to expensive so thats out. Is there anything else around that area that is moderatly priced?
vacation fool Posted March 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2008 We are also going next year. We bit the bullet and booked the Milano for 2 nites. With an AARP discount it is cheaper than one nite at the Sheraton:) It is a great location-walking to shops, restaurants, etc........

I would like to do some shopping that would be walking distance from the hotel. Hotel Milano has a minimum of 2 nights, so thats out, and the Sheraton is to expensive so thats out. Is there anything else around that area that is moderatly priced? Do consider Hotwire - just got the Sheraton Old San Juan for $109 on Hotwire. Our date is 11/2 - one night. It is rated as 3-1/2 stars with the following icons - pool, restaurant, casino, high speed internet, business center, gym and tennis nearby. That tennis thing is the clincher and how I knew! Actually, go to betterbidding.com and check out the pinned Hotwire hotels and they spell out all the amenities. BTW - we had already booked this hotel with a cancellable ressie for $199 per night - total savings with all the taxes was $110 per night! We have booked using Hotwire many times and have never been burned.

firefighterjake Posted April 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 2, 2008 My wife and I stayed at Howard Johnsons at the Plaza de Armes . . . it's in an old building so the rooms are on the small size and the room we had was window-less . . . but quite frankly it was very quiet and we were just staying the one night and after a day full of flying we appreciated the peace and quiet . . . plus it was close to Pier 4 (we were able to tow our rollable duffles down to the pier with no issues) and the hotel allowed us to store our luggage there until the afternoon with no additional charges. If I left from San Juan again I would definitely consider staying there again.
