B40 Tha Cruisa Posted March 28, 2008 #26 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I think toto2kansas is right Nita Agreed, although we spelled it different toto and I pronounce it the same Ka-reeb and cuh-reeb. Same exact sound. That being said, sometimes I say it Cuh-ree-bay which is likely wrong but it seems to come out once in a while after a few beers. caribill Posted March 28, 2008 #27 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I once worked in a movie theater named Caribe. We never did figure out what was the proper way to say it. We heard many who said 'Ka-Reeb -Short A with long E' and many who said "car-ib (rhyme with bib)" I personally use "car-ib".
Stuartm Posted March 28, 2008 #28 Share Posted March 28, 2008 According to one source Caribe is pronounced "KA-REE-BEE. Coming from the Spanish/Caribbean word for cannibal. A Caribe is a Piranha ... but I guess Princess thought it unwise to offer staterooms on "Piranha Deck"
