Lefty1 Posted April 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2008 traveling on the explorer in august - been reading threads about cape liberty but one thread stated you get a number, escorted in the holding area and then a bus takes u to ship - is this correct? i read about if u take car - do u drop off your luggage, park and then they take u to ship? we are most likely going to take limo to port but any information on cape liberty regarding boarding the explorer would be most helpful. i have been on other cruises and lucky me leaving out of NY which really is not that much fun so need to know if cape will be better
yogimax Posted April 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2008 1. Drop off your party and luggage close to terminal. 2. Park your car. 3. Take the shuttle bus or walk back to where you left your party. Actually, pretty simple.
smeyer418 Posted April 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Not to confuse you but the way this works you have the possibility of two shuttle buses. As the poster above pointed out, if you park your self, the best thing to do is drop you loved ones off with all the luggage. A porter will take you checked luggage and you loved ones can stay with your carry ones. You then go park you car and either walk back to the terminal or take a shuttle bus(like used at the airport for car rentals or parking) back to the terminal building. You then check in. After you check in you are given a number and wait in a fairly nice terminal type building and when you are called you get on a bus that many airports use to take you from the plane to the terminal(or from the terminal to the plane) when they don't use a covered gangway. Its a long walk from the terminal to the actual cruise ship which is not directly connected as they are in Brooklyn or Manhattan, so in Bayonne they use a shuttle bus. The distances you have to actually walk is about the same at all three. Manhattan has the least amount of walking.(IMO)...
