Prices drops for UK passengers?

Recommended Posts

I've read losts of posts about calling up and asking if the price of your cruise has went down since you booked. Does this just work in the US or do RCC in the UK do it as well? I booked in December for an October cruise. When would prices be likely to be lowered - they seem much the same at the moment and if you get a reduction can you get another if the price goes down even further. I understand from other posts that you don't get reductions in the last few weeks.

Yes, RCCL UK will give price drops. But if you have booked through a TA (which you probably have) you have to ask them to contact RCCL on your behalf and they are not always very keen because it affects the amount of commission they receive on your booking.

We have had a price drop on both cruises we have booked - the short one we booked direct because the TA discount was so small it wasn't worth it, and a 2 min phone call was all it took to get the new rate applied. The med cruise is booked thru' a TA and despite the fact that they initially said "no way", we persisted and got the lower price.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when , or if, the price goes down - just depends on how well your sailing is selling - so you just have to keep watching!

I've booked both cruises through TA as mine give me 9 or 11% discount i'm happy with the price I got, I sailed New Year, ship was full so prices just went up and on October cruise (school mid term for DD) the price has already gone up.

Thanks for your replies, I booked through RCCL and probably have got a good price as it is school mid term break for my son as well. I'll keep watching though just in case!

When are you travelling??

Hello whiteheather, further to your enquiry i can confirm that RCC UK do give price reductions where applicable. I have just done a B2B in caribbean and 10 days before we were due to go I noticed on the RCC UK website that both my weeks had dropped in price. I wentto see my TA (TC) and with not a lot of expectations I asked the TA to ring RCC to ask for a price match. She was very reluctant (as previous thread has said) to ring and thought I was winding her up. After a little persursion she eventually rang, the result was I got £6.72 refund on my first week and £286.00 on the second. We were both amazed, the money took about 3 days to come back to the TA but they rang me a week before I was due to fly out and reimbursed me with the refund less about 7% which they sais was there commision. I was not worried about £20 to them as I got around £270 back and was truly amazed.

So my advice would be keep a close eye on those prices right upto when you sail, every penny returned counts towards the bar bill at the end. :)

Actually RCCL already know about this, you will find that quite a lot of online TAs give a discount :D

The rules are different in UK.
