travelers checks

Cash is easiest, but they will cash traveler's checks. If the checks don't cost anything, then fine. But if they do, just bring cash. You will have a safe in your room to lock your "valuables" and cash in! Not all places in ports will accept traveler's check--Cash is King! Or Mastercard/Visa. Not many places accept Amex.

Straw market-style shops only take cash--bring smaller bills, or they may give you "local" money in change!

Never had Amex refused in any place or any country, or any island.
