Welcome and Farewell Parties

I haven't been on HAL for about 4 years. From reading these threads, I'm getting the impression that there are no longer any Captain's Welcome or Farewell Parties. Am I right? Quite disappointing if true. :( Is there still a Mariners' Society Party?

I don't ever remember a farewell party. There's a parade of baked Alaska in the dining room, with all the chefs presented, too. And a farewell song by the dining room stewards on the last night.

The Welcome Aboard party has been replaced by the Welcome Toast just before the show. No more pictures with and individual greeting by the Captain.

Yes, there's still a Mariners' Party, but it has changed in design. There's a cocktail party/reception for the medallion holders, followed by a luncheon for all the Mariners. It is quite nice.
