Here's one on the Inside Passage taken at 13 sec. - f/4 - ISO200

(Bright glare is the moon.)

 

Here's a handheld ½ sec. shot of the jogging track on the Mercury just before sunrise.

Longest exposure I ever did(I think) was with a Hasselblad SWC on a tripod

aimed at a well-lit waterfront restaurant(with reflections in the calm bay!)

with shutter set on B (Bulb) - for about 10 mins. I seem to remember.

 

f-stop aperture set somewhere around f16 or 22..

(shooting Ektachrome64 back in those days..this is like 250 years ago?:D )

 

Cars whizzing by,at the side of the bay were 'captured' when they passed

by quickly removing a piece of black card from in front the lens,during the long exposure.

Using that technique one can 'paint' the film when it suits you

(cars passing, to get red streaming tail lights,for example)

and then cover the lens (and thus the film) for the next few boring seconds/minutes

until something else worth catching comes along.

 

Repeated exposures like this(on one piece of film) can result in unusual photos

Just think - if you had the patience, and a moon in view

you could allow 30 secs. of exposure around 10 p.m. let's say....

and then uncover your lens(and film) again around 12 midnight,

to result in two distinct moons in your sky! :)

 

or you could start exposing (quick ones) in deep twilight to get those purple colours or remnant sunsets

and then continue exposures half an hour after true darkness falls

to get those moving 'streams' of car lights, stars, the now-risen moon, etc.

 

Possibilities are endless..limited only by your imagination ?

Kinda unique. We had an at-sea rescue for a injured passenger and since we were not allow up front to watch the copter... they televised it on the CCTV. I happened to take a shot of the rescue on our cabin TV.

now THAT's different! (maybe even weird in a cool kinda way?)
