Who Has Booked Alaska for '09???

But, you are saying, that if I am just searching, and hit the muli-city option, I can book to vancouver and then back out of Anchorage?

Yes, ma'am - that's exactly what I'm saying! Into one city and out of another is called "open-jaw" - and you can book those as multi-city flights. You can check 2008 prices on a web site right now to get an idea of what prices and connections are like from your area - although I expect airfare will be higher next year.

**OK - I see you already did check prices! :)

We booked the 14 day Pacific Princess cruise, for Sept.3, 2009. Looking forward to Kodiak and Valdez, but will miss staying in Alaska on our own, as we start and end in Seattle.

Well, John - there's always 2010! ;)

North to Alaska! Here we come! :D

We are booked for Radiance of the Seas June 19, 2009 7 days out of Vancover. This will be first trip to Alaska for DH and I and we will be part of a group from our area that is going. I am sooooo looking forward to it!

I'm desperately trying to convince DH to do the additionall 5 days land portion. Wish me luck! :)

Now, I'm curious to read the negative reports about Radiance in Alaska. but I'm not jumping ship as this is a group trip.

We were on Explorer of the Seas this past March and had a marvelous time. I hear Radiance is just as pretty as the Explorer although somewhat smaller. And that's ok with me~Less people to contend with.

I was on my first Voyager-class ship in March (Adventure of the Seas), and will be on Explorer in October. The Voyager-class ships have a lot to offer, but for sheer beauty - the Radiance-class ships are among the prettiest ships at sea.

We just booked the Golden Princess out of Seattle for May 16.. DH has never been to Seattle so we are going early so I can show him around a bit... my boss swears I get even more ornery if I don't get an Alaska fix at least every other year:rolleyes:
Have you heard anything about the Golden getting the upgrades like the International Cabe & Crown Grill. That would help with my decision to go on this cruise..

Thanks NancyIL~ I'm so glad to hear Radiance is as pretty as everyone says!

You will love the Explorer~there is so much to see and do on her! We were part of a group of 221 from our area(four bus loads+) that swooped into Bayonne all at once to board her. We all had a marvelous time!!

This will be the first cruise (if you don't count my Navy experience) for my husband and me and I can't believe I still have a year to wait! We spent two weeks in Alaska in 2000 and vowed to return. After much discussion we decided to do a one week cruise and then a week on land before returning home. My daughter and soon to be son-in-law are also scheduled to be on our ship, but she's in the Army so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I also have two friends planning to take the same cruise.

Just booked the Star Princess last week and somewhere I saw a post about the upgrade schedule. I know the Star is getting it before we sail so I bet the Golden is too. If I can find the info again I will post it for you :)

Wish I was going to Alaska again this year!

We are booked on the Diamond Princess southbound sailing August 22. Plan to do a 6 day land tour before the cruise.

My group will consist of my parents, two sisters, and myself. Dad is a first time cruiser.

Everyone we know is making fun of us for planning a trip over a year away. Lots of schedules and website links being emailed back and forth.

We're doing NCL Pearl rt from Seattle on 12 July 2009 (I feel a little lonely as the only NCL poster here)

Don't worry you'll soon be joined. Just think of yourself as the pioneer!!:D

We would like to be able to BUT Princess UK won't allow it until sales of the 2009 itinerary are opened for sale and that might not be until June/July!!! Why is that? We just don't know yet wish we could book with a US TA but Princess don't allow that!

Colin:mad:

I booked a Princess cabin for my UK friends with a US travel agent (I'm in the US, if that matters). They made the deposit directly with my travel agent. Princess UK may not like it, but it is do-able.

I'm booked on Carnival Spirit round trip on Sept. 2/09 and booked it back in December 07 when the dates first became available. I'm taking my daughter, son-in-law, 2 grandchildren and a couple of friends with me.

I was on quite a winning streak for awhile at our local casino and put aside most of the winnings. The couple I'm taking with me are very dear friends who are retired and have always wanted to do a cruise. The husband used to work as a waiter on Alaska cruises back in the late 50's/early 60's, and has great stories to tell. They are both so excited about this trip.

The 2009 cruise will be my third year in a row doing a September cruise on Spirit.

You will have a great time:) .. actual NCL was my first choice due to Freestyle cruising which IMHO is "perfect" in Alaska but the port times worked better on Golden Princess and DH has never been to Tracy Arm. Also since I am "elite" past pax with Princess we get our laundry done free and free booze.. the laundry deal in Alaska is esp. a great perk with all these weight and suitcase restrictions on planes now = why we drive to our east coast cruises.

Just yesterday, we booked Radiance of the Seas - August 7, 2009!!! It's a one way from Seward to Vancouver and I get to celebrate my birthday during the cruise:p We got 2 connecting JSs on Deck 10, one for DH and self and the other for the kiddos. But it sure is a long way away:(

I wish I was cruising to Alaska in 2009. But DH wants to wait for our 5 yr anniv (2010) to go back a second time since our honeymoon was the first. Doing Princess again and can't wait to book (but that's a year away). But this time we'll have our DD who will be 2 1/2 at that time. She's 4 months now. So I'll be waiting 1 more year, but will have plenty of time to get excited!!
