Martita B. Posted May 30, 2008 #51 Share Posted May 30, 2008 Jane I've only enjoyed the service 3 times on Transatlantic flights ~~Continental. One time a male the other 2 times the Chef was female. They serve very fresh tossed salads and the entree's were exceptional. (I swear I could smell a grill cooking the steaks) Trolley's used for different 'courses ~~just very gourmet. I ask last March where our food came from....was it Lisbon? She said "No, the food was flown in from London." ???? It was very nice service ~~ Have a fun weekend!:p I'm off to visit my Son ~~ MB

GrannyLorr Posted May 30, 2008 #56 Share Posted May 30, 2008 With a stopover in Bandar Seri Begawan? (Sorry, I just love that name!) I love that name too Seve :D I did start getting all excited about maybe spending 3 days or so there as we have never been to Brunei....then I thought about the damn luggage again! We are heading to a Northern European "late summer"...then staying on in London in October for a couple of weeks....therefore "warmer" type clothes......to stay in Brunei we would need "real hot summer" clothes......dont need to be carrying "clothes for all seasons" again! Could also have a stopover in Dubai....but then....same problem! Maybe look at JAL again ......

Maybe look at JAL again ...... Lorraine, One of the airfares we have used several times is with Singapore Airlines. Its a Round the World SQ only. This means you can only fly on Singapore Airlines flights so you go through Singapore on the way out and back from Australia. (no hardship when travelling 'up the front' on SQ - and more points!) You have to find your own way across North America. (we have travelled twice by train and once through the Panama Canal - you could of course just take a domestic flight) We've enjoyed wonderful stopovers in Seoul and Tokyo as an added bonus; all the time knowing the next flight is going to be just as good as the last. The fare is considerably cheaper that a One World or Star Alliance round the world ticket. Last time we did it a couple of years ago it was $7300 apiece in Business Class. It might be worth a look. Cheers, Steve.
GrannyLorr Posted May 31, 2008 #58 Share Posted May 31, 2008 sounds a good price for Singapore Cands...and we do like that airline very much....but really dont want to do the Europe to USA to Asia to Oz thing again......I was a Zombie for 2 weeks after getting home last time! Martita B. Posted June 5, 2008 #61 Share Posted June 5, 2008 My friend Helen Carroll (Ohio) gave me this delicious recipe ~~A Seabourn favorite! So quick and easy:p Cold Strawberry soup In blender: 2 bananas, sliced 1 carton frozen strawberries, thawed 2 T. sugar 3/4 carton whipping cream (you can use half-n-half-not as good though) Blend until smooth This soup is so refreshing and good! I'm keeping it in my fridge this summer for a quick lunch or a "pick-me-up" afternoon snack! Enjoy! Martita B.
crystal808 Posted June 5, 2008 #62 Share Posted June 5, 2008 Not to stir a controversy(!), but I received email from my TA today, concerning a "new" smoking policy on the triplets: The email from Ryan Vogt, Manager, Sales Development, included an attached document, and was prefaced this way: <<We continue to get feedback on our smoking policy for Public rooms, especially in regards to smoking in the Club. Therefore, we have revised our smoking policy to the attached latest version which makes the Club a complete non-smoking area as of August 2, 2008. Guests who would like to smoke before or after dinner can do so either in their suites or at the sky bar/observation lounge depending on the weather. This change will also be communicated to all guests who are currently booked post August 2nd 2008. >> I'm simply posting this to make our CCers aware of the upcoming change, with no intent or expectation of a further discussion! I'm sure some will be happy, and some will be less so. It is what it is. Let's let it stay there, please! No doubt, your travel agent will have soon, or has now, similar correspondence. Should you have any questions, please contact your agent. Paul ;)

Seabourn-nail Posted June 14, 2008 #72 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Good morning! Well Deb, I still have the one orange stripe, but I did my nails in orange and painted "hup Holland" on them; one letter on each of my 10 finger nails. And I painted the Dutch flag on my forehead. I will spell it out for the "Lord", otherwise he will ask difficult questions again! Maybe I will post a picture later! Yes, that was some match last night against France (Holland 4 - France 1). We stayed at home and watched together. We had a few glasses of wine, but not too much. Tuesday is the last match in this round and then the quarter finals next Saturday. It seems all of Switzerland is colored orange now, including the Swiss, now that they are out of the tournament. They chose Holland's side (which is "logical" to say according to Johan Cruyff). To answer your last question: Our next cruise will be AFTER the football, but we have been cruising on Seabourn before, while the European or World championships were going on and that is great fun too!
