Coastaljen Posted June 5, 2008 #1 Posted June 5, 2008 Has anyone does the bus tour to Estancia Santa Susanna? I am really debating whether to do it. It isn't expensive, but I feel like a big bus may make it seem a little too "touristy." I have two full days in Buenos Aires. One day I would like to do a really nice private tour of the city (La Boca, Recoleta, San Telmo, etc.) I am thinking my money is better spent on a six hour private tour than a 3 hr. bus tour of a lot of areas. There is a HUGE price difference but how much can you see with a huge busload of people in three hours. Any idea? That leaves me with one day. I am debating either going to the Estancia with a large group tour or just wandering around Buenos Aires. Any thoughts? I am staying at the Sheraton Libertador. Is there anything to walk to in that area????? I know Los Dos Hermanos gets rave reviews, but I don't have time the day I fly out, and I would miss San Telmo Market if I did it the day we dock because it isn't part of a large group tour. Could I walk to San Telmo Market from the hotel on Sunday and do the long private tour the other day?
2boomerstravel Posted June 5, 2008 #2 Posted June 5, 2008 We had two days in BA also, you can read what we did on Day 1 here http://theboomerlive.com/2007/12/23/azamara-journey-s-america-cruise-2007-buenos-aires-day-1/#more-171 and Day 2 here http://theboomerlive.com/2007/12/26/azamara-journey-s-america-cruise-2007-buenos-aires-day-2/#more-185 Our photos from BA are here http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=buenos+aries&w=21288008%40N04 Have fun its a wonderful city.
gdimanzo Posted June 5, 2008 #3 Posted June 5, 2008 Walking distance from the Sheraton Libertador to San Telmo is about 25-30 blocks. A taxi ride should be less than 5 dollars and since you'll be here on a weekend you won't find any traffic. Buenos Aires downtown area is really busy during weekdays but really quite on weekends. If you decide to walk, you can take advantage of Diagonal Norte street that ends at Plaza de Mayo (the pink goverment house and tha famous balcony where the presidents and Evita adressed the masses)
Coastaljen Posted June 5, 2008 Author #4 Posted June 5, 2008 Wow thanks. I may just go to the hotel and leave the luggage. Then I can get a taxi and do the market for free by myself. :)
Coastaljen Posted June 5, 2008 Author #5 Posted June 5, 2008 Do you have a website for Pedro? I would love to see what he charges for a walking tour. It sounds wonderful.
