NW Mom Posted June 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2008 Hi - Six of us are on a cruise on the Sapphire Princess leaving Whittier on July 5th. We would like to spend as much of the day in Anchorage and we have a rental car from AVIS that we can return in Whittier. It is our thought that the rental car will offer the most flexibility and allow us to leave later (e.g. 4pm). However the rental car will not fit all of our luggage. Can we check our luggage at the Egan center for delivery to the boat via the Princess Shuttle, even if we are not taking the Princess Shuttle? Thanks much for your help, Stephany
ARRTrain Posted June 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2008 Not sure, You'd have to call the local Princess Office in Anchorage. You might have to have a transfer with them, for them to transport your luggage too. Or Princess would be stuck with the expense of hauling luggage for free. 907-550-7711

cruisingalaska Posted June 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2008 We just did a transfer from Egan Center to the Diamond Princess. We went at 10 am to pickup the 'transfer motorcoach pass time slot number tag'. We hadn't checked out of the hotel which was 2 blocks away. So we asked if it's OK to bring back our luggage our luggage in 15 minutes. Of course they said it was fine, and just pointed to just drop off the luggage in the next room. It didn't seem that they cared if you had a transfer or not. Just make sure you put on their luggage tag showing Ship Name/Departure Date from Whittier/Cabin Number before handing it to the luggage crew and make sure it's for delivery not pick up! Princess really makes it easy for you AND your luggage to get to the ship. Don't worry about small things. The Princess people were very nice at the Egan center!
