Hi! We're going on Mariner of the Seas 11/7 sailing for our 25th anniversary. Has anyone done the vow renewal ceremony with RCC? We haven't cruised alot and this is our first on RCCL and are really excited. My sister and her husband are also going with us and its their first cruise. Thanks for any advice!!:)

Udelmom,

We just had our vows renewed last week on the Mariner. Tracy is in charge of the ceremony and we thought our ceremony was wonderful. My daughters walked down the aisle before me and my son escorted me down the aisle. The ceremony is done on deck 14 in Skylight chapel. It was very lovely.

The only suggestion I would make is to try to discuss everything with Tracy before the actual ceremony so that when it is time to walk down the aisle everything is taken care of. The photographer we had - Claudio - did a great job taking pictures.

If you have any questions, just let me know. I'll be glad to try and answer them.

Thanks so much Luv2Croose! I'm very excited to cruise again and for the renewal. Did you contact Tracy on your first day or did she get in touch with you? Would you change or add anything? We've never been on a huge ship so this is a little daunting. Any tips? Our anniversary falls on the day the ship is in Ocho Rios. I would like to do the ceremony then and have dinner at Chops. I won't have my kids but I will have my sister and her husband. I can't wait to get on board. Cruise docs came today!!:D:D

Udelmom,

Tracy called me the first day sometime after the muster drill. They prefer to do the vow renewals on non port days and non formal days, so I do not know if you will be able to have the ceremony on your anniversary.

As far as changing anything, I would have prefered to have talked to Tracy about how everything was going to occur....like walking down the aisle with my son, my daughters walking before me, etc. We didn't discuss that stuff until the actual ceremony. I would have preferred to know what to do before I got there. But it didn't change the ceremony ...it was wonderful...I am just a control freak.

As far as any tips, just enjoy yourself and make it what you want it to be. Tip the photographer afterwards....you may get a better deal with the photos....we did.

Have a great cruise and congrats!

Tracy,

We actual live in Monrovia also. You can access the royal caribbean website for all the info concerning renewing your vows. The cost is $400. If you want to email me at Norawhyte@aol.com with any questions concerning RCI or vow renewal, I will be happy to answer them.

Tell me do you have any children? What school are they in? My kids are in Monrovia Middle and Endeavor.

In 99 my wife and I renewed our vows on the Majesty of the Seas just before Voyager was delivered. Our ceremony occured while we were anchored in Ocho Rios. I am not sure if they still do it there but one of our pictures (the one on the wall right now) has Ocho Rios in the background.

Now for my sermon (sorry to those who have read this before).

Do not decide to save money by not having a Vow Renewel Ceremony. I am glad that we spent the money because as I type this I am thinking back once again about my lovely wife and how I lost her 3 years ago next month to an undiagnosed brain tumor. Had we not done it, then I would have been left with would of or should of memories instead of reliving one of the most fantastic times of my life.

I can still remember her smile as she walked down the aisle with our two sons on her arms. I can still remember the ceremony and the very sexy kiss when we were given permission by the host.

This was not done on an aniversary or any other important day other than we were with our kids on the vacation that we had dreamed about for 20 years.

So please, don't worry about the cost. The memories will be much better than the few drinks or souviners (or gambling) that you had to pass up in order to have the renewel.

You will never know when life will hand you a lemon and then all you have are your memories of great times.

We are cruising on Feb 25th 2005 on the Brilliance for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We are also planning on the vow renewal. I called RCL today as a matter of fact (The Romance Coordinator) & I was sort of surprised that she could not answer all my questions. Basically, she was there to sign us up for the package & then everything is left to the Social Hostess when we board. I am one who likes to know every little thing in advance. So I believe I will email Nora!

Coach Don.....You are so right. We have to live for today. Like my husband said...."How may times will we celebrate our 25th Anniversary?"

Don............ you are so right........ just like Tim McGraw sings "Live like you were dying"........ it's words I have been living by this past year, and that's why we have decided to do the vows next year. It'll be 32 and half years for us, and we never know what's around the corner. I want the chance to say it once more "formally". P.S It actually means "more" this time round...... strange eh?
