Sovereign in her new Pullmantur livery

You can click the link below and see a photo of the Sovereign in her new Pullmantur livery. I don't like it. That red funnel, red and orange life boats and the word "Pullmantur" on the side looks very bad. I really hate to see this ship leave the RCI fleet.

Our first cruise ever was on the Soverign in May 1988. We will miss her.

It might look better 'in real life' - that's just an old RCI publicity photo of Soverign that's been digitally retouched. It'll still be weird though.

I don't think it as garish as some of the NCL ships with their "hull art".

If the prices are good.........she might give us something to look forward to when cruising in the Med. I wonder if they will have English as the 5th lagnuage aboard???

Is RCCL transferring her with her Viking Crown? I remembered reading somewhere that they used to remove them from the original ships prior to sale.

Yes. The old Song of America still has her Viking Crown in place.

They did, with the exception of 1 ship, and I can't remember which one. But , as the ship is not leaving the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line family, I would imagine, that they will leave the Viking lounge:D

She was my first in 1990 and we did the Eastern Caribbean 4 times on her. We have some great memories from that ship............... What will she be renamed?

Prices are usually pretty good on Pullmantur's cruises, considering that they are all-inclusive with all your booze included and airfare from Madrid as well if sailing from a non Spanish port.

In fact only two languages are used to make announcements on board, Spanish and English.

I didn't think they were changing her name, thanks for the clarification.

 

The new Sovereign will be a "bit" colorful. Too bad, at least RCI's ships remain classy looking, IMO :p

Wow, my first cruise too! November 1988, Honeymoon, and then sailed her again with 5 children in 2000! Loved her!

I was looking at the picture of the Empress on their site as well. We sailed on her when she was the Nordic Empress back in 1995. Kind of sad, but it does not look like Pullmantur changed much on the ship.
