Robert6260 Posted July 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2008 I will be Platinum status on my next cruise and I am really looking forward to the perks. I was wondering about the priority tendering. My cruise will stop at Grand Cayman where we will have to use a tender. I just can't see walking past hundreds of people to get to the front of the line. Do the Platinum guests meet somewhere and get escorted to the tender?
iluvdoxies Posted July 25, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2008 Yes, go to the puesor's desk and someone will escort you to the front of the line. Be prepared for dirty looks lol.

Cruise-Crazy Posted July 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 25, 2008 Embarkation is nice too. You will have the VIP lounge to wait in before they let you on the ship. Since I became Platinum I have not waited more than five minutes to get checked in.
LHP Posted July 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 25, 2008 On the Imagination, Noonan was in the main theater (where everyone was instructed to gather for their excursions to Half Moon Cay) and announced for all Platinum members to follow a Social Host. We were escorted out to the tenders even BEFORE any of the Carnival excursions...and got to the island before the ice and beer (they have to bring everything off the ship for this private island). It was interesting to see this operation set up.
IKE Posted July 25, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 25, 2008 Don't worry about the dirty looks. You are now a Platinum Member and this is one of the perks for sailing 10 times or more on Carnival. You earned this status and perk. Have a great time on your cruise. We are now Platinum Members ourselves with our nerxt cruise in Sept. and looking forward to VIP boarding and departure. Wennfred Posted July 25, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 25, 2008 Also if you are making a dining table change and have to see the maitre'd when you first board, just walk up to the front and flash your Platinum card, you will be next. :) Fred
popsec Posted July 25, 2008 #9 Share Posted July 25, 2008 Also there's a separate line at the purser's desk for platinum and you wouldn't believe the dirty looks you'll get for walking past a line of people to the "concierge club" line :D ........ah, this is the life! Also, don't forget the free laundry service....another great perk

Also, don't forget the free laundry service....another great perk Some lady was freaking out and got into the Concierge line, I had to tell her that she was in the wrong line and that they wouldn't be able to help her here. She started to tell me her problem and I told her that her cabin had enough beds for her family and that she needed to wait until that evening and they would take the extra bunks out from the ceiling and from under the bed, she was so happy and thanked me and left. Never saw her again. Family of 5 and only 1 bed on the floor. Fred
glrounds Posted July 25, 2008 #11 Share Posted July 25, 2008 I really appreciate the VIP boarding and the FREE laundry. Thanks, Carnival. :) Don't do excursions, so I've not experienced those "looks". ;) Did notice several times when a bartender spots the PLATINUM card, he practically knocks others over getting to me. :D
sealgs2000 Posted July 25, 2008 #12 Share Posted July 25, 2008 We were Platinum on our last cruise and we loved every perk. Free Laundry hands down is my favorite of all the perks.

One passenger began to get a bit vocal, and I quietly mentioned that, despite having a Platinum card as well, I was waiting my turn in line. I expect CCL to provide me with the stated perks only, and nothing more. My problem is usually not being able to get all the ones they've put in writing. I'm glad Fred has had the previous success without altercation(s), but I personally don't encourage it.
Wennfred Posted July 26, 2008 #15 Share Posted July 26, 2008 I've also seen it not work for others. One passenger began to get a bit vocal. That didn't work for me on Fantasy in May. :( Haven't had a problem yet, but if I did, I would ask them if they had one of these, and flashed my Platinum card. On both ships I just simply went to the front and showed my Platinum card to the Waiter that was helping with sending people inside to see the Maitre'd, On the Freedom it was nice because there were no lines, they had a lounge they has you sit and wait, I'm guessing they gave those people a number. On another ship I just went infront of the line and showed them my card and the waiter said ok cool just wait right here, you are next. No fuss from anyone, if you go alone it will be ok but if you bring a whole family with you Im sure people will start getting uptight, it also helps to have your Cruise Critic shirt on. Robert6260 Posted July 26, 2008 Author #16 Share Posted July 26, 2008 I want to thank every one for the good info. Hopefully I will not need to go and see the Matre'd or got to the Pursers desk (this would be a first). I really looking forward to the VIP embarkation and free laundary. The free laundary will come in handy on a two week cruise.

I had one lady at the front of the regular line yell at me when I walked up to the "concierge club" line. Sol y Mar Posted July 26, 2008 #19 Share Posted July 26, 2008  Please don't forget what it felt like to be one of the "regular" cruisers out there. Last year, we had a couple cruising with us that mentioned their "platinum" status so frequently, we turned it into a drinking game!! Needless to say, our s & s acct racked up pretty quickly! I vowed never to forget the "little people" out there upon my 10th cruise. Sol y Mar

candigirl41 Posted July 26, 2008 #21 Share Posted July 26, 2008 Getting to the tender was the only time anyone said anything and it was a little girl and I just showed her my card and said "platinum baby" She had no clue. At the pursers desk some people have looked at me funny, but when they see the card they know. Candi
Robert6260 Posted July 26, 2008 Author #22 Share Posted July 26, 2008 The way people are cruising Platinum may not mean much soon. The Past Guest Parties are getting bigger and bigger. They have gone from the aft lounge to the theater. In a couple of years they may encompess the Promenade deck. If half the ship is Platinum VIP embarkation and priority tendering want mean much. Hurricane Girl Posted July 26, 2008 #23 Share Posted July 26, 2008 We still have a few to go...hopefully by this time next year we will be there. :D On our last cruise, the last night, I needed two more luggage tag numbers. I went to the Purser's Desk to get them. People were lined up going down the hall. (each person taking forever) No one was in the platinum line. I walked over there and a crew member (that was watching the others work) walked straight up to me and smiled and was ready to help me. I told her what I needed she looked at me funny, didn't say a word, and she got them for me. (took all of 30 sec.) I told her thank you and walked away, she was still looking puzzled. She knew I was not platinum because of the number on my tag. I think I shocked her because I went to that line. If I had needed something that would have taken time I would have waited with the others...until I make platinum. :D
