Question for Platinum Cruisers

There is no Stateroom number on the card. Cabin: S2 is something else. . .

Tom has already cleared up that error, but his statement actually applied to most/all of that ship. I was on the same sailing, and my cabin number is clearly listed on my S&S. In October '07, Carnival Sensation still issued the VING cards for cabin door entry to most (if not all) passengers.

It's not always that cut and dry... As much as I would like to think that everything moves like clockwork, this is Carnival, and we are all human. Getting laundry back on the same day can't be guaranteed - no matter what time you give it to them. We have sailed several times, using this service on many ships, and have seen variable results.

Tom

Thats true about it not being cut and dry, so far onboard Freedom and Paradise this past April, I asked the cabin stewards to ensure that my laundry would be returning that same night and they both said as long as it goes out before 10am you will have it that same evening.

You have to ask the cabin steward about Laundry because its could be done differently on all ships and then again we have some great and some lazy stewards.

I was just discussing that last night with some friends of ours who are sailing on the Glory with us next month... many times we have had great cabin stewards, but occasionally we get stuck with someone who really does not want to be there, and it shows!!!

I have a question on the Priorty Debarkation for Platinum cruisers. Our 10th with Carnival is this December.

Are you separated from the general crowd of "Self Assist" people debarking the ship? Are you escorted out ahead of them so you are first off the ship?

This really doesn't matter so much for this cruise since our flight is not untill 3:30pm but, we did have a flight option leaving at 11:30 that we were thinking about. We may choose the earlier flight in the future!

No, Self assist is everyone, whether youre Platinum, VIP or not. When they call for Zones, Zones 1, 2 and 3 will be called at the same time. You will be Zone 1.

Wow...I'm really surprised how many of you use the laundry service. I know I'm just extremely picky about how my clothes are washed and dried (or not dried). My DH uses it regularly but I would never send my clothes to them. His always come back looking like they've been slept in and the thought of my clothes being washed with other people's clothes kind of does it for me..... I agree with Tom - it's hit and miss as to when you'll get them back. It varies from ship to ship. Also, not sure anyone mentioned this but SORT your colors from your whites or they'll all go in together.

The perks I enjoy the most are the concierge line at the Info desk, priority embarkation and tender tickets. The private galley tour was nice also. On our last cruise the computers were down in the port during embarkation so every passenger got a note to take their credit card to the Information desk to be scanned. Talk about lines!!! There were 33 Platinum members on the cruise - 10 of them in our group - and we breezed through there.

With dining - we've only had to see the Maitre 'd a couple of times but advancing to the front of the line is not a Platinum perk. We wait our turn in line like everyone else. It would be nice if they would form 2 lines for that purpose but they haven't done that yet. They accomodate you if they can but sometimes they just can't. For example, we requested a specific waiter that we knew and they couldn't do it because of a new policy stating that waiters would not be moved (in fairness to them). We did get a specific large table in the supper club that we requested so they'll help if they're able to.

It varies based on which ship you are on. We have not sailed on the Freedom, so I can't be sure.

As Platinum you will receive a letter in your cabin the night before debarkation telling you when and where to meet. Sometimes they will give you two different times - where Platinum self-assist is (obviously) earlier than Platinum guests who left their luggage out. Other times they will list the same times for both Platinum types - meaning that you will go off the ship (with or without your luggage in tow) PRIOR to any of the standard self-assist or general debarkation crowd. Usually this given time is between 7:15 and 8:00.

There have been times (the exception rather than the rule) where a crew member entered the waiting area right on time and led us off. Other times we have waited over an hour for someone to show... that can be a LONG hour, as you are already up fairly early that morning - and waiting to get off the ship is not the "most fun" part of a cruise!!!

If youre flight is 3:30pm then you are ok, you can wait around in the Platinum VIP lounge and have coffee and danishes while you wait to be called. This lounge will be open around 8pm or so.

If you opt for the 11:30am time slot, then I recommend you do Self Assist.

Cheryl will rarely use their service. I only use it for socks, underwear, t-shirts, etc... As you stated, they can come back looking kind of rough. Reminds me of my laundry service in Afghanistan... after enough washings, everything kind of fades to the same dirty brown shade...

I would not send any evening wear/dress clothes to them unless you have to.

It's hit or miss.

VIP lounge - coffee and danishes??? Was that on the Freedom?

On the Glory, Inspiration, Miracle, Legend, Sensation, and Imagination all that they offered was a barren room (well, there were chairs - LOL). The only time we have had the option of Juice/Coffee/Danish was on our first Celebrity cruise earlier this year. I thought that was a nice touch. Not sure if that was only because we were in a suite or not.

Let's see . . . all the perks of the PLATINUM with a private party fot the BLACK ELITE where members get ONE FREE excursion, ONE FREE dinner at the Supper Club, and entry into a drawing taking place for a FREE CRUISE ?

That ought to do it.

Sounds good to me! I would be getting close.:D

That's being phased out - or at least no longer offered. Correct?

I was never really a fan of a system where you could BUY perks as opposed to earning them.

Yes its being Phased out but CVC members still have all of the perks until end of contract, the good thing about it was that it got me the perks until I became Platinum. Best perk with CVC and Platinum is VIP boarding. I love getting onboard first with the Wedding party and enjoying Lido all to myself. :)

I'm with you. I wash all my clothes in cold water and only dry socks, sweatshirts, and other stuff I don't care about as much. All bras, panties, jeans, shorts, etc get lined dried! I'll be platinum after my B2B in the fall, and the laundry is one benefit I will not use! Luckily, I'm able to pack what I need to get into one suitcase and carry-on.

. . . they can come back looking kind of rough.

I've used the W&W* service as a Platinum perk on several sailings, and I have to totally agree with those descriptions above. I'm happy to say that (so far) nothing has been returned a different size or color.

The only 'nice' item I've sent was a tux shirt, thanks to the young child from a different table in the dining room who hurled a bit of his meal with his spoon, like a catapult. There are many pleats on those shirts, and the laundry service had them going in many directions. But it was clean and could go in the luggage without being separated. And I'm pretty certain that as rough as it looked. . . that child looked worse. I saw the look in his mother's eyes.

This has probably already been asked...but I will ask it again. :D When myself and DH reach plat. level do we both get the free gift & the entry into the slots or is it just one of us??

One free gift, unless you say something but you two will get the free entry to the slots or black jack tournment. Wendy's name wasn't listed on the Casino list but she had the Platinum Card to prove it.

If you want a second free gift for the 2nd person, just call the Pursers Deck and they will send it the following night.

Thank you!!! I knew you would have the ans. for that one. I remember you had said something about it in your "live review" (which I loved reading & seeing the pics.) but I couldn't remember exactly what it was.

Long Beach and San Diego doesnt have a lounge, Miami does.

Fred, when we were in the Long Beach dome last week they sent us to the VIP Lounge (by mistake) but it was there... on the right side, we entered it, two Carnival personnel greeted us behind a desk, we told them we already did early check-in and they said "Oh, then you don't need to be here".. There was some chairs and a table on the right side of the room but I didn't look at what else was there as we left....

It use to be (especially with the tote bags) that you only got ONE per cabin, regardless of how many in the cabin were platinum members. Just two weeks ago ALL 6 of us (4 in one cabin and 2 in the other cabin) each received a thermos. I'm hoping that Carnival realizes that the thermos are not what we want and by giving each and every Platinum member one, they'll get rid of their supply quicker, thus getting us something better!!!

As far as the entries into the tournaments, yes, each one of you will get a separate entry. If you have kids 17 and under, they will get a letter telling them to present it to the Camp Counselor and receive $5. in tokens for the game room...

This will be my 10th Carnival cruise!! The free laundry is a huge perk. Is there a limit to the laundry? I will be the only platinum out of my family of four. It would be great if everyone's laundry could get done.

Also, if I don't have cruise documents and just the funpass, how will I prove that I get VIP embarkation? I guess I can bring a copy of my cruise history.

No laundry limit that I am aware of - we have placed several things from non-platinum guests in with ours. Never a problem or question.

Regarding "proof" for VIP embarkation, I would simply print your cruise history (Carnival.com) that show your previous 9 sailings.

Good to know now because they always had a VIP line outside the doors along with the Wedding party, Special Assistance needs and Zone 1, 2. and one other.

I did that (printing out the cruise history) just in case, for our first Platinum Cruise. I worried that Carnival might not have noted it, but when our documents came in the mail, they specified "VIP."

I suppose I shouldn't worry about our next cruise....but knowing me, I'll probably still print out our cruise history *LOL*....
