cruizeblues Posted April 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Just curious, I've read few reviewers complaining about ships having a "Titanic Like" list abruptly and w/out explanation from crew. Sounds frightening! Is this common? We had some 8-10 feet seas on our first cruise, but the ship barely swayed! Is this a mechanical or weather related thing? Till our next Adventure! Family of 14 Posted April 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Probably what you read about was from human error. (Serenade) Are you sailing on the Mariner 7/18/04?...Click here! or HERE! Mark_K Posted April 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2004 No, it's not common and can be from a variety of causes. When it happened on the Serenade it was crew error, when it happened on Radiance, it was a sudden 65 mph wind squall. ---------------------------------------------------------- "Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits" Mark Twain "Nothing so needs reforming as other people's formal night attire, poolside attire, child rearing practices, walk-talkie usage, chair hogging, seat saving, line cutting ..." staylor Posted April 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Our waiter on Serenade said that there were SEVERAL crew members fired by the captain after the Serenade list. It was human error. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=2> <param name="day" value=7> <param name="hour" value=22> </applet> Ecstasy 1996, Fantasy 1997,1998,1999, Imagination 2000, Sovereign 2001, Fantasy 2002, Monarch 2003, Serenade 2004
PEGLEG Posted April 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2004 I still believe it is caused by all the interference from walkie-talkie RF waves.

mbisson Posted April 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2004 It happened to us on a different cruise line and "they" say it was a computer malfunction. The ship was on auto pilot at the time and it decided to do a rather quick turn to port. There were many injuries and we were met by about a dozen ambulances at our next port. -Monte some of my cruising photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/m1bisson A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work. The worst cruise I ever took was pretty damned good. Platinum with RCI, a couple cruises with NCL and 1 with CCL Who's coming with us on the Norwegian Sun?
