mij Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2008 I noticed today that my cruise price went down $100. I called my travel agent to get an OBC carnival said they could downgrade me from a 4E to 4A cabin and gave me a $60 obc. I said never mind. BodyAndMind Posted August 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Wow, that wasn't my understanding of their policies/procedures. Interesting. Sorry you didn't get the $100.
hatchetjack5 Posted August 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2008 You need to call back and talk to someone else. I just received a 120.00 obc because of a price drop.
big_duck Posted August 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2008 With guarantees, you always risk losing upgrades for price reductions.

Sounds to me like you got a free upgrade to a 4E and you checked the price of a 4A, not the new cabin 4E price? doesnt sound like the price of the 4E went down $100. ladybug97 Posted August 21, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2008 Our price dropped $100 per person too but we had no problems getting a credit! There are a few of us on this cruise who have gotten OBC and upgrades just within the past week! Way to go Freedom Cruisers 10/25/08!! :D
Top-Cat Posted August 21, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2008 Ours went down and we got an OBC of $120.00. But we also booked direct through CCL. We had previously received a free upgrade during one of those sales, plus past guest.

You could only get the OBC if you were willing to pay the higher fuel surcharge, i.e. Id keep what you got since its a cheaper rate. A few PVPs have been known to give it, but most charge the higher fuel surcharge. At first I think PVPs were confused, but the policy is now more set. Either way, OP needs to check the price of the new category, not what she originally paid for.
