Lowie Posted September 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2008 we are considering a weekend cruise in October, but between the very active hurricane season and a very ill father in law, we don't want to book too far in advance. i know we can buy insurance, but i would rather just wait until the last minute and jump on a ship. does anyone know when the cut-off is for purchasing a trip? eandj Posted September 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Each line has it's own cutoff dates. Pick out a couple cruises that interest you and call to find out their particular cut offs on that cruise. Since 9/11, those dates are further out from the sail date. Know that you will be limited to room availibility and dinner seatings if on an assigned dinner seating. Too, if you need to fly, the air costs and availiblity can be troublesome. Bad weather can change your itinerary, no matter when you travel. As long as you don't care if you miss a particular port, anytime is ok to cruise. Some times are just more favorable. As long as you are willing to self insure, if you need to interrupt the trip or cancel last minute for your relative, you are ok. Of course YOU have to stay healthy too. Good luck. paul929207 Posted September 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2008 In varies by cruise line but mst are 48-72 hours before sailing. Check with the line(s) you are interested in.
