SandraDJ Posted November 27, 2014 #3351 Share Posted November 27, 2014 R.C. Explorer of the Seas 7 day leaving London (Southampton) on Oct 2, 2015, sailing to Barcelona has zero single supplement on all cabins. Inside: $793 base + $108 taxes = $901 Oceanview: $943 + $108 = $1051 Balcony: $1243 + $108 = $1351 Suite: $1813 + $108 = $1921 While not an amazing deal purely on price, it seems more attractive given that that it's almost a year out, it's got as many ports (4) as some transatlantic cruises more than twice as long, and it might be useful as part of a longer trip. I booked that one some time ago. A cruising friend found it and booked herself a suite. I debated and booked a balcony, and another friend booked an inside. It was an extremely good price, and we should be able to get a cheap flight back to the UK.

It seems like a good cruise at a great price for what it is. I've never tried RC, so I don't have a good feel for their pricing, but I just looked deeper into this cruise, and other than the Transatlantics and some Brilliance/Majesty 4/5 day voyages, this is the cheapest per-day RC voyage there is in the second half of 2015 in every cabin class. It is the absolute cheapest suite per-day, bar none. With all the press on Quantum of the Seas, it's no surprise it's more expensive, but it looks like a studio has become available on the Feb 13th 7-day sailing out of NJ for $1649. Also, Norwegian Epic, Feb 22nd, 7-day Miami studio $549+$117 tax = $663, dropped by $150 today.

Rare westcoasttech Posted December 5, 2014 #3364 Share Posted December 5, 2014 While it's not particularly a bargain, I've booked a last minute Christmas cruise on the Getaway in a studio. Price has dropped a little bit in the last week, but there's no "extras" of OBC or dining packages included (at the moment). Paid $1284 (that's CDN$ and including taxes, so US$ would be a lower number), so it's "reasonable" for a Christmas week cruise and will hopefully have some good solo's social activities. I know the Epic is a bit cheaper and still had some studios available, last time I looked, but IMO the Getaway has more interesting port stops, and I wanted to try out a "newer" ship - hopefully there's still a little of the "new ship" smell about it!! RandoCalrissian Posted December 6, 2014 #3366 Share Posted December 6, 2014 Holland America has opened up their newest ship, the Koningsdam, for bookings starting Feb 2016 for 7+ day Mediterranean cruises out of Rome. This is the first HAL ship that I know of with solo-specific cabins (oceanviews at the bow) and what looks like the equivalent of a ~25% supplement. Base fares are $190-$220/day. I don't know if these are what other people would consider good rates, but they seem to be among the cheapest European cruises HAL has today for any sailing. For comparison, the cheapest European cruise I found was the Prinsendam leaving April 5th, 2015 on either a 14 or 31 day trip for $160/day base fare. Oceanviews on these were about $192/day base. Staying with HAL, the Zuiderdam 15-day transatlantic leaving Ft. Lauderdale on March 15th 2015 is $1278 + $129 tax = $1407 for an inside. This is a 60% supplement, which seems to be the case for all the other transatlantics I checked as well, but this one is ~$20/day cheaper than the others. Finally, the same 60% supplement seems to apply to most of the San Diego to Vancouver repositionings in late April through late May 2015 for $80-100 / day (this includes the supplement). The Noordam is also $100/day going the other direction on Sept 29, 2015.
logan25 Posted December 7, 2014 #3367 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Snagged a decent solo price for the RCI Majesty. December 15-19, 2014 inside guarantee $175 (plus $100.24 gov't fees) oceanview guarantee $186 (plus $100.24 gov't fees) When I booked, the OBC was $175. Plus I should get another $25 from redeeming a future cruise credit.
