Crown and Anchor Diamond is Now Cubic Zirconia

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else seen this?

MIAMI, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has announced that the highest levels of the Crown and Anchor Loyalty program will be renamed. What were in the past Diamond and Diamond Plus will now be Cubic Zirconia and Cubic Zirconia Plus. "We feel that renaming our Loyalty program tiers more accurately reflects the direction RCI is taking for the future" said E. Scrooge, VP for Loyalty Programs, "and dovetails nicely with our recent cutbacks to the RCI shareholder benefits"

If not, just wait. ;)

Also, gold has been changed to pyrite and platinum to steriling silver.

The coupons have been changed to $.50 off coupons for Johnny Rockets, buy 12 hour of internet and get 1 minute free coupon, free ice in your drink coupon and a "get to the lifeboats first" coupon, allowing you to jump ship earlier than everyone else in case of an emergency.

To be honest, I've cruised different lines over the years and I found that RC does give you a lot more perks than other lines. (If I'm wrong then I apologize for misinforming, but that's what I thought personally).

I agree with you 100%, thats why once we starting cruising with RC, we have not gone back to another line. I still like my Diamonique though.;)

I like the perks with RC, thats one of the reasons we haven't tried any other cruise line, we feel we would be cheated out of our rewards.

Question.....I see in your signature (and many others) that you are Diamond and a Royal Champion. Could you please tell me what Royal Champion is? :o :o  I've never hear any one talk about it. TIA

Sorry, but I do not agree with you. Check out Princess Cruises Captain's Circle and see what perks are available when you reach Elite status.

Just to pick two of the perks........free laundry & dry cleaning and free internet are just about the best perks on any cruise. I wear a white dinner jacket on formal night, and then have it dry cleaned on the ship. ;) They actually do a better cleaning job than my local cleaners.

Guess it depends on the person - I've never used the laundry/dry cleaning OR the internet, even the free minutes we get (hey, I'm on vacation!), so they would not be great perks for me.

Those perks mean nothing to be either. I am on vacation and have no use for the internet and I have never used the cleaning service.

RCL's perks are MUCH better than many lines. After 25, 50, and (I believe) 100 days on HAL you get a pin! (They even forgot to give me my pin.) Oh, and an invitation to the Captain's brunch - well, at least they were generous with the wine at the brunch:D.

Although, obviously, I am not loyal to any one cruise line... I just look for the best deals, and by doing this I am able to pay for the "perks" that I want.

Hi Howard! :)

I've cruised many Princess ships (our first was aboard the original Love Boat's twin, the old Island Princess), and I know that they have the laundry & internet free, but I love having the discounts in money off cruises & the free champagne (or drinks) each evening, plus so many others that my Princess perks don't allow.

To each his own though, and I don't blame you for enjoying the perks of your choice. :p

Not a perk topic, but I really enjoyed the fresh papayas & mangos that they use to have onboard the old HAL ships! Do they still serve them on the Lido buffet?

Cute post but in serious response, membership in the Crown & Anchor Society is still free isn't it? I'll take (at the very least) my balcony discounts and saving certificates and run. ;)

No one is required to be loyal to any cruiseline (or company for that matter), it's choice. Aside from any loyalty benefit, I (and I can assume many others) prefer Royal Caribbean because of the style of cruising they promote, the ships they build, the staff they employ and the 'general' direction they have taken their company.

The invitation to become a member of their loyalty rewards program is one way. Nothing is asked or required from anyone. The more you cruise, the bigger the reward. We give nothing extra and get something in return. How can this process be described any other way than positive?

In my opinion, any reward for choosing to patron any business is appreciated, especially in this economy.:)

Here is part of a letter that describes it: :)

Maybe you've heard of them? The Royal Champions!!

The Royal Champions are a group of enthusiastic online supporters of Royal Caribbean. Royal Caribbean periodically rewards their loyalty and enthusiasm with VIP invitations to special events such as pre-inaugural sailings and press events. Royal Caribbean also asks for assistance from the Royal Champions to test new ideas, submit cruising stories and assist with marketing programs.

Right from the source... I like this explanation. :)

I consider it an honour & happy to spread the good news about RCI :)

Thanks Emmy.

I feel the same way. I had a couple of lengthy conversations with Explorer's Chief Engineer (still can't spell Jordbeourne  ) and with Capt. Erik, and they were very interested in my comparisons of different cruiselines and different ships. That's what I love about RCI. They're open to all ideas and suggestions from their passengers.

So many people want to think of us as cheerleaders, and so be it...:D They are entitled to their opinions just as we are entitled to ours. I'm 65, and darn it, I'm entitled to mine. hehehe.

Hope to meet on a cruise someday. :)

Ditto I enjoy reading your posts:)... I have only sailed once as Diamond member so quite new at it but Diamond level crusie #2 coming up in about 3 weeks on Liberty

I have also sailed on Princess and prefer the loyalty perks on RCI. I especially love the Diamond balcony discount.

I'm quite new at being Diamond as well, Emmy! It took me many years to get there because I normally don't book JS and up.

BON VOYAGE on the Liberty!! Wish I were going too, but budget forbids it right now. :(

Those perks mean nothing to be either. I am on vacation and have no use for the internet and I have never used the cleaning service.

I tend to take longer cruises and with the airlines luggage restrictions found that it was much easier to take fewer clothes and send them out to the ship's laundry or dry-cleaning services. Our last cruise ended last week and I sent laundry out three times. Having laundry as a perk would be something that I'd be very interested in.

We just finished our Serenade cruise to Alaska as diamond members. I felt we were given great perks. They had breakfast for us in Portofinos. While there was nothing hot it was still very nice. We also enjoyed cappicino in the concierge lounge and had quite a few plates of petit fours delivered to our room. Also appreciated the coupon for the free pictures, free drinks and casino perks.

I was under the impression, please correct me if I am wrong, that Princess had imposed some limitations on both of those perks and they were not unlimited as they were in the past. Diamond members on RCI get a number of free minutes on the internet that can significantly reduce your cost unless you spend a major portion of your cruise time online, and twice during our TA we were offered an "all that you can stuff into a laundry bag (wash and fold) for $20. Not exactly free but still a decent benefit. The Concierge Lounge, which is available to diamond members on three quarters of the RCI fleet, with free cocktails every evening is probably more of a meaningful savings to us than the two Princess benefits that you mention.

While this is a nice feature, it is not a perk solely for C&A members. You now have to ask your cabin attendant about it and he/she will make sure you get the bags you need. I used it twice in addition to other laundry services. You don't need to be a member of C&A to take advantage of this.

You are right and I shouldn't have implied that it was a C&A benefit, but it is a benefit of sailing on Royal Caribbean.:)

I don't remember seeing these on my last cruise, but that may have been because it was in Alaska. They did have hot drinks on deck in Glacier Bay though:)
