what not to miss?

We booked our cruise tonight on the Sapphire Princess, sailing Aug. 29- Sept 5, 2009. We've never been on an Alaskan cruise before, so I was wondering what you would suggest as "what not to miss"

 

Our itinerary is:

 

Voyage of the Glaciers - Whittier to VancouverThis itinerary features a 7-day cruise with ports of call in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway plus glacier-viewing in Glacier Bay National Park and College Fjord.

Be sure to book a whale watching excursion while in Juneau.

I would recommend Tracy Arm Fjord, by small boat, if you are in Juneau long enough. 45 miles south of Juneau.

If not Juneau, being the state capital, is a most interesting town to explore independently.

 

You may want to consider hiring a car, if you are in Skagway long enough for a day trip to Canada.
