Chosing an Anytime Dining Room

We will be on the Sapphire in 10 days for our 1st Princess cruise and have chosen Anytime dining. I know the menus are the same save one specialty item (but I think you can get each of the specialty items in any Anytime dining room-not 100% sure).

 

Anyway, because the menus are basically the same it doesn't really matter which dining room you go to. On the Sapphire there are 4 anytime dining rooms (assuming none get used for Traditional dining as I've read happens sometimes). 2 are on deck 6 and 2 are on deck 5.

 

So my question is, if there is a wait at one Anytime dining room on deck 6 will they know if there is no wait (less wait) on deck 5? Or do you just have to check them all out and see what line is smallest?

 

I would think deck 6 would be busier since that is one less deck for people to go down, but it also has the traditional dining room and the casino and other things. Not as much else on deck 5.

 

I guess I'm really wondering if the dining rooms on different decks communicate with each other or if you are on your own to figure out which is least busy.

Yes, they generally communicate. We have been referred to another dining room on occaison when the first was filled and other times we have simply gone up or down a floor and checked for ourselves.

Yes, I have had them pick up the phone more than once on the Golden and Grand to call the other DR and ask about seatings.

I am aware of that; but you would think if they do it on two or more ships that they would do the same on others. They do have the same management.

I don't do crowds and the thought of 500 more people on the same size ship as the Grand class is enough to keep me away.

Because of the way the dining rooms are situated if you go to one, another is just a 1/2 ship's width away. The other two are directly above or below. They are closely situated, and all use the same kitchen. Sometimes you are redirected, others not. If they are very busy, on a formal night for instance, they may let you know if immediate seating is available in another room.

 

Sapphire and Diamond make anytime dining very convenient, IMHO.

Certainly not on RCI's floating mall.:D And as long as Princess utilizes the Grand Class and smaller ships I will try my best to avoid the 3100+ passenger babies.

 

I am really looking forward to the Island (1900 pass) in February since all my cruises have been on Grand Class ships.

 

Lucky for us Princess realizes that one size does not fit all.:D
