B2B in Port Canaveral Question

Recommended Posts

We're doing a B2B on the Monarch in January (3 & 4 night Bahamas.) I've been reading that you just have to get off the ship, go through customs, get your new seapass, and then get back on. I was wondering how hard it would be to stop back at our car in between the cruises to swap suitcases. If we do this, do we then have to go back to the regular check-in line? We would be carrying our luggage ourselves.

I'm just debating whether or not minimizing the amount of luggage in our room for each half was worth the hassle of going back to the car. We'll be in an oceanview room on deck 8.

Also, how does it work with the duty-free liquor allowances? Do we have to take any liquor we buy from the first cruise off of the ship and through customs in order to be allowed to buy more on the second cruise?

Thanks!

I would think you would have to go back through the "normal" line if you get off the ship, leave the secure building, and then reenter the facility whether you get additional luggage or not.

A suggestoin would be to use the ship's laundry service. This way you do not have to pack different sets of luggage and your cruises will be nonstress. Enjoy the moment. Their service is not very expensive compared to our local laundry service and they do a darn good job. My father was a drycleaner/laundry service owner. I learned a lot from him and I will tell you they are good!

As far as your car and parking,I am pretty sure you have to go and pay for the 2nd part of your trip after the first part.........

I recall twice people who did a b2b on the Sovereign(Pt Canaveral) that had to go pay in between..........the parking lot attendant is not set up to prepay for more than the first cruise.........

and this was as recent as the end of October...

We did a B2B on the Mariner in October. Our liquor wasn't delivered to our cabin until the last night of the 2nd cruise.

On our B2B on Sovereign last August, the Guest Relations person who was escorting us thru the second check-in process asked us if we wanted to leave the terminal between cruises, to shop or whatever. We chose to go right back on the ship with her at about 10:15am. However, I got the impression that had we opted to leave the terminal, we would have lost the chance to get on the ship early, and would have had to wait until 11:30am when they usually start the regular boarding process.

We did a B2B on the Sovereign in October. We had rented a car, so don't know about the parking. We met the coordinator at 8:00, waited around there for perhaps 30 minutes, then off the ship, escorted through Customs, sit for maybe an hour (until the ship was empty), then back on board. We changed rooms between the 2 cruises (it was a last minute booking kind of thing).

We bought some liquor on the last day of the first cruise, and it was delivered later that evening. We did have to pack up our suitcases, but they were moved to the new room by our stateroom attendant.

I would avoid the hassle of dragging a suitcase off and then back on again, but I don't think it is really that big a deal. They started boarding people not very long after we were boarded. Not more than an hour? Sat around the pool and read a book.

Hope this helps!

Just did a back to back on the Monarch. I would suggest just one suitcase. If you decide to go to the car you do lose that "benefit" of reboarding as soon as all passengers are off the ship. Yes, you will have to go through the security checkpoint again. Enjoy your trip.

All liquor bought on board in their shop, the first or second week, or brought by you on the islands, the first or second week and kept by them, is not given to you until the last night of your second week.

It is held by them until then and they know who you are and that you and doing B2B's. :D

I sailed a B2B on the Mariner in Sept/Oct.

Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't.

On the Majesty in September, they just handed everyone (including me) their bottles as we purchased them at 6 P.M. on the final night of the cruise. I was staying on for another four days, but I got my bottle anyway. :D :D :D

I was commenting on the post made about the Mariner B2B and liquor, not the Majesty. ;)

Different ships, different Captains and different rules. :D
