Hello Everyone,

Thinking of taking Oosterdam to Mexico in Feb. Two adults a 14yr old and a 4 yr old. Will the kids enjoy Holland? How is the Penthouse? Have been in many suites on other cruise lines wondering how they are on Holland? Any information would help.:D

Thanks:)

No penthouse experience, but...

We sailed on the Oosterdam last feb in a cat SA deluxe suite and thought it was quite nice. Full king bed with upgraded linens and duvet, large veranda with a dining table for four and two lounge chairs with ottoman, large sual sink vanity in the bath with a separate shower and jetted tub, private dressing area, and a large couch and two chairs in the sitting area that can seat several people. The couch folds out for sleeping but we did not use that. The sitting area is not private from the bed - it's all in one room.

The SC deluxe suites are all aft and while the rooms are smaller than the SB and SA rooms, the SC verandas are gigantic. Those on the corner wrap around the side of the ship. They're beautiful and provide lots of wonderful private space. But with four in your room you may decide the extra interior square footage is better.

The deck and stateroom plans on the HAL website clearly explain the difference between the PS and deluxe suite (SA SB SC) cats.

The perks (cat PS, SA, SB, SC only) of unlimited laundry and dry cleaning, preferred dining arrangements, and the services of the concierge/neptune lounge made for a very nice voyage for us.

We liked the experience enough that we booked it again for February of 09. I hope this is helpful for you. Have a great voyage - maybe we'll see you on the high seas.

Pete

You will love the PH suite! We sailed in one on the Westerdam last year and it was fabulous. I can't really speak about the children's programs but the PH suite is ideal for a family. The bedroom can be completely closed off and there is a guest bath. There will be plenty of room for dining should you decide to use room service. There is also ample storage for the entire family. Embarkation was a dream - the first HAL rep we saw provided us with an escort who walked us around the building and through the whole process straight to our cabin.

I will be happy to answer any questions. :)

Don't know how much response you'll get from people who have actually been in a PS. I was lucky enough to have an S Deluxe Verandah suite last summer and I agree with BoiseIdahoSpud's comments on the perks and services HAL offers to suite guests. I thought the S was huge, and the PS is over twice the size. Have fun!

Thanks for this! We've got one of the PH on the Westerdam for our March/April cruise and had no idea what to expect!

Prepared to be truly spoiled. It is the size of an apartment and the bathroom is very luxurious - marble jacuzzi tub, gold fixtures, separate shower with a gazillion nozzles, annd separate room with toilet, bidet and sink. The guest bath is very convenient for company. If you entertain, be sure to let the concierge set you up with hor dourves and such. There were two very large, gorgeous flower arrangements. Enjoy!

I took an upsell to the PH on 11/30/08 to surprise my DH for our anniversary. He didn't find out until we got to the check in podium. Quite the shock! When we announced our cabin number, people started jumping and didn't stop all week. We were escorted directly to the Neptune Lounge. It was great training for becoming a rock star (or just being treated like one). We we treated so well and loved all the space and surprises.

Be careful when ordering hot and cold hor'doerves (sp?). We specified for two, and got enough to feed us all week. We put that full size fridge and microwave in the butler's pantry to good use. We were amazed by the artwork, by the Neptune staff (Gelo and Janie), by the great spa on the deck as well as the one in the bath, our great cabin stewards, and on and on and on.

We had requested a table for two at late seating and were given space for four but reserved for two (table 83). That was a nice touch! You will enjoy every minute. I'm sure my finger prints are still embedded in the doorway from having to be physically removed at the end our our cruise. I just didn't want to give it up.

I have a billion pictures of the cabin and deck that I will try to post.

Enjoy!!!

It is a wonderful suite, isn't it? I wish I could justify cruising in it every time.

I can't seem to get the photo upload on CC to work yet (operator headspace issue, I'm sure). Marle7, I did send you the album via Snapfish. Hope that works for you. Let me know.

rower52 -- can you possible email the photos to me also? I'm trying to see the PH suites for Oosterdam - but, I hear they are all the same except colors. My email is my name at comcast dot com. Thanks!

Takeavacation, I'll send you a Snapfish message. Lilnemo, if you give me an address I'll send it to you also. Sorry I'm so lame that I can't get an easier method going. I'll figure it out eventually, but in the meantime, if you give me an email, I'll send the pix.

No, the rower was in the gym. I was thrilled to have it available though--I do a challenge each year between Thanksgiving and Christmas where you have to row 200K. It really helped--I came off the cruise up only 2lb. A holiday miracle!:)
